It is not Neil and with Orpik it is not one event. In my eyes, if you crosscheck someone you answer the bell. If you crosscheck someone and just sit there wait for the linesman, teammates, your goon to get in the way, well...

So every crosschecking penalty committed needs to be followed by a fighting major? Or is it all minor penalties?

Because that doesn't seem to make much sense to me.

so now crosschecking means time to 'answer the bell'

hopefully you will be consistent in applying your scorn on all players who don't adhere to this unspoken code

Karlsson ever crosscheck anyone? Did he fight after?

You get in someone's grill like Orpik does, crosscheck up in the chest and you don't fight?

Look, Brooks Orpik is a guy you hate on the other team, but want on yours blah blah blah...I'll just leave it at that.

Every defenceman outside of Lidstrom throws cross-checks during the whistle and after.

If you think Orpik is any kind of agitator... that's just odd. He does it as much as most defensive-D-men.

No.

But Turris did to Subban and Turris was suprised after when you crosscheck somone while looking at them and you get punched in the face.

For the record he is not a coward because he said that he didn't have time to drop his gloves because Subban, well...

you are seriously attributing unbelievable amounts of meaning to a fairly common playoff scrum. how many fights happen that arent either at the end of blowouts or as a result of an agitator convincing someone to foolishly go in an attempt to change momentum?

I refuse to believe that Steve MacIntyre is better than anyone at anything hockey related.

He just comes out for any boxing matches that are needed.

I doubt it. He probably declined to fight P.K. Subban, but P.K. Subban forced Turris in a fight.

That is what I meant. However, Steve MacIntyre is a better fighter.

If I'm understanding the last 2 pages, fighting is THE point of the game. McIntyre for MVP!

Some footage of MacIntyre during he tryout.

And no, he will never see a game in the playoffs. Three days off really has exhausted viable actual hockey talk it seems. But allowing me to have a reason to post that clip is priceless.

But it's gonna happen.
Yes, Ottawa's overwhelming brutality crushed the Habs' will to outshoot and out possess them night after night after night.

Hits are kind of a weird stat. Aside from being subjective, it doesn't really correlate to winning and generally if a team out hits its opponent by a wide margin it's because they couldn't maintain possession. Look at the Hawks this year. Fewest hits, best possession times, best record.

Ottawa won because of defense, not hits. Finish your checks when you get them of course, but if the Sens loosen up in their own end to inflate a useless stat Pittsburgh will put up 4 plus a night for the next three games. The Sens were fine 5 on 5. If they stay out of the box and convert on their chances they could win this thing. If they keep trading power plays they're done in four.
