Edler + Kesler trade bait?

According to Eklund:

Quote:
In the rumor mill....

That's right folks. rumors! Starting today I will be shifting my focus to covering the teams NOT still playing as I cover the playoffs...

This text today from a source...

"The Canucks are putting together a plan to be extremely active in the draft and ufa market and what most people dont seem to be realizing is it goes far beyond the obvious Luongo trade that is coming. Kesler and Edler are very much in play as well...with teams already considering calling on both players."
http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Eklun...3#.UZUp0L_hdFI

Personally I doubt either player is traded, especially since both have NTC. Edler was just signed to a new deal starting next year and that would make the Canucks organization look bad by trading him. Eklund has been more reliable this year, so interesting news.

I offer you Jamie Benn. For both. That is all.

Just kidding, you can have Trevor Daley too.

Not quite enough to get Nucks to pull the trigger but there may be a deal to make

If true we should move Schneider as well then, but trading these would be painful and very unlikely as Kesler brings what Gillis want to build the team around big gritty 2 way and speed, Edler is also young a #1 big d man, these moves don't make sense

Can we get the prefix changed to "Eklund" instead of just "Rumor"?

Please use Eklund prefix for Eklund rumors.

That said, Farhan Lalji has been really pushing Edler as the one to go, as well as Mark Spector (I think?!) saying on Sportsnet that Vancouver would move Kesler if there was any sort of market for him.

That might be in the ball park for Kesler alone

Even as a Hawks fan, there's simply not enough going back to Vanouver there.

I would think Simmonds would be of considerable interest to Vancouver. Work him in there maybe, along with Couturier.

if Kesler and Edler go, Schneider will go right behind them imo.

MG clearly wants to rebuild the core of this team and moving Schneider would get more assets than Schneider. Not to mention, he really likes Lack for the future

Kesler
Edler

vs./

Eller
N. Beaulieu

Canucks arent rebuilding, theyre tryna get younger and build a young core like PHI did when they traded Richards and Carter.

The Isles 1st + Moulson for Edler, before his NTC kicks in?

k...
with that deal you get Eller as a replacement for Kesler (30 points in 46 games ... 5 years younger than Kesler). You also get Beaulieu who played 6 games recording 2 points and a +5 as a 20 year old.

Than you also get a 1st pick and a 2nd from last year in Collberg.

Oilers will take any one of these guys and prob give them the best return in regards to young talent. The issue is they will never trade between each other.

We should just put this out there as intelligent hockey fans. If both Edler and Kesler are being traded quite a lot is coming the other way....

I can't see Kesler moving but I do realistically see Gillis trading Edler

MPS and 7thOV and a 2nd for Kesler

Swedish winger just starting to learn how he needs to play, potential franchise player (depending on who gets drafted) and a 2nd to sweeten the pot.

Good post. I'd love an Eberle + 1st for Edler

Wouldn't you rather target a Dman?

So Vancouver gives up the two best pieces in the deal and only get two in return?

That might get you Kesler.
