Our GM are friends so I wouldn't say it won't but highly unlikely since we're in the same division

Its funny how I as an Oilers fan offer MPS, 7OV and a second for Kesler. Most likely an underpayment.

And you as a Canuck fan offer Edler for Eberle and a 1st. Another under payment.

I wonder where a neutral person would consider the value here?

In my proposal I tried to centre it around what Jeff Carter got from Columbus.

Jeff Carter for Voracek, 8thOV and a third.

Voracek>MPS
8thOV < 7OV
3rd < 2nd

I would even be willing to swap MPS with Gagner if the canucks have more interest in him instead.

If Kesler is moved, i think Canucks will get a slightly better return than what Richards got of Simmonds, Schenn and a 2nd.

Kesler will get more than Carter and Richards, he has better contract and is better defensively.

Top Prospect/top 10 pick(Strome,Kuznetsov,Schefiele etc.)
Good Young Forward(Simmonds, JVR, Schenn etc.)
Another 1st or a good prospect almost NHL Ready(Zucker, Nelson, Donovan, Pysyk etc.)

Ryan Kesler is not being moved. As much you haters want to make fun of Canucks fans, even at canucks.com no one ever posts Eklund rumors anymore.

Extremely unlikely Mike Gillis will move Kesler. He was one of our best players during the playoffs.

Edler, I wounldn't be surprised if he's being moved.

Other then that, Eklund is just posting a bunch of useless crap.

I'd really like the Wings to go after Edler but I think the price for him would be Smith+Tatar with possibly more having to back. If we say Smith is off the table as is Jarnkrok & Nyquist is there a deal to be made? Something around Sproul/Ouellet++?

Besides Vancouvers cap issues.....Vancouver needs to move one of its higher salaried Dmen. In this hard cap era a team CAN NOT have 5 $4M+ Dmen.

If this is true, Id bet a lot of money that Edler will be a Flyer. Not sure Im gonna like it because itll probably cost Couturier. Both Schenns arent going anywhere though, so thats a plus.

Hmm.. I don't know if he would get a bigger return or not. When Carter was traded he was coming off a 36 goal campaign while being +27. He is a goal producing machine. In 8 seasons he only had one season under 20 goals..

Kesler might be better defensively but it seems that he is not going to retain the form where he put up close to a ppg ever again.
He is also coming off a bunch of injuries...

I'd say my offer of MPS/Gagner, 7th overall and a 2nd is very close to ball park.

Kesler = Bergeron imo both PPG guys in the past, may not be now, but def 50-70 pt guys, who are leaders and great defensively. Still young in thier prime too

Well I had a laugh at this. Unless Gillis decides to trade the entire core for futures, this really makes no sense for us. Judging from Gillis' post season press conference, he wants to make the team better, not worse.

Yea that's about as good an offer they will get for Kesler.

He's certainly not going to get more then what Richards and Carter got. But he'll likely get about the same as them.

2 good young players/prospects and a pick.

If Kesler goes before the Sedin's get moved I will be angry. I just don't think it makes any sense to trade Kesler. Yes he is has had more than his share of injuries. And believe it or not our PP lives and dies with him more so than the Sedin's. Kesler is a great player and it doesn't make sense. I would rather Gillis deals away the players that seem not to give the extra effort when the play-offs come around.

If Gillis is dealing away any of the core imo it should be in this order:

Edler
Bieksa
Burrows
Sedins
Hamhuis
Garrison
Kesler.

TBH, if I'm Philly, I'd rather have Couturier or Schenn. They are players on the rise, with a young team who for the most part will enter their peak years at the same time, and on lower salaries. Getting an older player makes little sense.

With Kesler, you hope he can stay healthy (his surgery list continues to rise) and continue to perform at a level he was at 3 seasons ago. But he's already in his peak years. Maybe you can squeeze 3 or 4 years before he totally breaks down or simply declines due to continual wear and tear on his hip and shoulder.

I believe in 3 or 4 years, Couturier will be a better all around player. Schenn won't ever be as good defensively as Kesler, but he'll be a vital cog for Philly when they are ready to contend.

Edler, I have much more interest in because they really need a defender with his skillset.

I don't want MPS as the main part in any deal for Kesler or Edler, MPS doesn't hold all that much value, the kid isn't living up to his hype around his draft and even then he had huge questions about his finishing at the NHL. I don't think Oilers and Canucks make that good trading partners now that I think of it, we're both smaller teams looking to get bigger and the pieces we want back for Kesler or Edler would be one of your prize young kids.

He also said he wants to make the team younger. Personally, I could see Edler moved for a legit 1st line forward, someone in the mold of Bobby Ryan. We have enough left side depth to handle that as long as we get a right handed PP specialist to play on the 1st unit with Garrison. I don't see Kesler being moved at all, we are re-tooling if anything, not re-building. Moving Kesler is essentially throwing in the towel considering scoring is our biggest concern.

If we're trading Edler for a package I doubt we'd want a guy turning 30 in the fall. I think the package would have to be entirely comprised of young talent.

If I had a choice I would take Bergeron over Kesler. Bergeron seems like he has developed into a better defensively player than Kesler.

Don't get me wrong, Kesler is good defensively but I don't see him winning a Selke anytime soon...

Well compare that to what Richards got,

Simmons and Schenn

MPS is close to busting, I like Gagner but with the twins here the last thing we need is small forwards. Those players just don't fit Vancouver needs.
