Not so much anymore, but it used to be legit.

Lindros gets cover, suffers a string of major injuries, ending the prime of his career.

Owen Nolan gets the cover, never matches even half of his career points totals again

Lemieux returns, looks amazing, gets the cover, then plays only 24 games the next year thanks to injuries.

Iginla leads the league in goals, gets the cover, then is not in the top 30 in points the next year

2004 - Joe Thornton is selected, then is charged with assaulting a police officer. Replaced by Dany Heatley, who kills Dan Snyder in a car accident. This happened only 4 days after the release date.

Markus Naslund went from being an annual top 5 scorer, to being a second liner, to being not NHL caliber in only a few short seasons after getting the cover.

Lecavalier went from being a Hart trophy candidate to the most overpaid 2nd liner in the game.

Eric Staal went from a 100 point season and a Stanley Cup to having an awful season.

Phaneuf was one of the best young d-men in the game. He got the cover and started having his hip issues.

Its been four years since a "curse" like happening though.

Voted 10 times today.
I think Malkin will be the real test for Taylor Hall

I'm more concerned by the "Oilers shoulder injury" curse than the cover curse.

Meh. Kane, Toews and Stamkos have been fine.

I agree with this. I don't know if Hallsy can beat Tavares this year, we're gonna have to vote huge that week, ha ha. I voted for Simmonds vs Tavares too, just in case, lol.

Wow I'm surprised that Simmonds beat Malkin, must be some real diehards out there.
I think Hall stands a pretty good chance, but I can see Joffrey Lupul goin all the way, too many pissed off Toronto fans after they lose to Boston tonight.

We got it sort of easy, boys. Tendys have a hard time going on the cover so i believe we'll win this round. I think it'll come down to JT or Hallsy.

If Simmons beats makin... Then Hall may have a chance? Lol
Never even opened this thread before cause I assumed it was a bunch of homers wasting their time... But I guess it's worth throwing I'm a few votes just to troll my flames fan brother if it works.

In honor of his playing time at the WHC, this can be the cover shot for the NHL 14 game.

While I love Hall as a player and an Oiler, I get a kick out of the humour in him possibly losing to Bobrovski.
