Plekanec is clearly ready to take on a bigger role on the team and is WAY more versitile then Ribeiro. This is addition by subtraction.

Je suis confuse.

I never hated Ribs, never loved him either, but still, this is a weird one, something else must be going down? Oui? Non?

Ribs will not fit in Dallas...Isn't that one of the cities with the most overweight people in North America? They will think he's an alien.

Ribeiro potential been reach. Hes not going to get any better. We nedid a defencemen and we got one. We got chipchura and grabovski coming up soon and carbo wanted to give plekanec more offensive responsibilities. We got johnson and higgins capable of playing center. Are center position was a position of strengh and are defense is weak. We basicly fill in a position of weaknes from a position of strengh. It was a good trade and hell we got a defencemen who can log in minuts by given a player who was clearly not liked.

Here is my line-up for the first game of the season

Higgins – Koivu – Ryder
Samsonov – Johnson – Kovalev
Perezhogin – Plekanec – Latendresse
Bιgin – Bonk - Murray

Markov – Rivet
Souray – Komisarek
Streit – Dandenault

Huet
Aebischer

Johnson could be the right handed centerman for Kovalev

I am floored.. I really don't know what to say

I thought Montreal was weak on Center now trading ribs...

I hope Captain K is ok...

something is up... Jason Allison???

I can't see Bob G trading ribs without a backup in mind for center...

Higgins will play center...

Is it safe to say that Latendresse is the reason that Ribeiro is a Star today?

But show me where anyone makes JM out to be a superstar?

Both teams fabns hated the respective players. I call it a fair trade.

I liked Niinimaa as an Islander and certainly don't agree with the Brisebois comparison. He's been struggling last year, but so has Ribeiro. I will certainly not hide that I'm extatic he's gone and like the simple fact we're moving on. If Niinimaa is atrocious maybe we'll be hearing we got fleeced and that might even be true, but my first reaction was just "thank god it's over". Sorry if this sounds cruel.

Trading a #2 center for a #6 defenseman isn't exactly how to build a winner

My first reaction was "crap, I just drafted Ribeiro in a no-move fantasy hockey league".
My 2nd reaction was "yes, Niinimaa was good in Edmonton".
And my 3rd reaction, "He hasn't played in Edmonton for a while and I dont' know how good he was last year"

"It's a part of the job. It will be a new start."

"Pierre Gervais came to told me Bob wanted to see me."

"I expected maybe to be traded because there were many rumors"

"It's a shock."

"I'm dissapointed"

"Dallas had wanted me for a while"

"I'll leave tomorrow."

"I'll be able to hang out with Theo more." (He said it...)

GIVE ME A BREAK BUDDY , THIS IS A FINE DEAL . He has been a major flop in the playoffs, period , he is 26 , upside is over, THE BOTTOM LINE IS YOU CANT WIN WITH HIM AS ONE OF YOUR TOP 2 CENTERS, I HAVE SAID THIS FOR YEARS , he had chance after chance
to be a difference maker , he is soft , one dimensional, weak 2 way center , we have to stop praising this guy , he IS WAY OVER RATED.

Plekanec is ready to take over. When you have players who can take over a position it dosent matter. If you think you need ribeiro to build a cup winner you are pretty funny. Ribeiro is the last person you want to count on to built a cup winner.

I honestly think Bonk needs to be waived, and Jason Allison needs to be signed...

Higgins – Koivu – Ryder
Samsonov – Allison – Kovalev
Perezhogin – Johnson – Latendresse
Bιgin – Plekanec - Murray

Markov – Rivet
Souray – Komisarek
Streit – Dandenault

niinima

Huet
Aebischer
