I'm fine with that. Lots of good candidates.

Therrien was probably 4th.

We were very critical of Therrien this year, and for good reasons.

He did a good job, but I don't think he was one of the best coaches in the league this year.

LOL

That's actually kind of funny. Not saying he should of won it, but come on. He took a team with the 3rd worst record in the NHL, and worked it into a team wit the 4th best record in the league. With virtually the exact same team... Not really sure what else he could have done, but oh well...

Not taking anything away from the three candidates, and not saying he didnt have issues, but he turned a garbage team around in one year. I would have thought he would have at least got a nomination.

Oh well, the only real award that really matters is the Cup anyway.

Kind of a joke considering where the team finished last year.

Meh, I'd say he was on par with Boudreau as they both turned crappy teams around. I would have given the nod to Michel because of the way he gave young players a chance, but Bruce did a very good job as well.

It's MacLean's to run away with anyways.

Hard to argue against any of the 3 nominations. I agree that Therrien probably just missed the cut.

I'd say the same thing for Bergevin. It was virtually the same team, why is he "nominated" for Best GM?

I don't care much about it too, haha

Quenneville and his OP team? I mean, come on. Why not put Bylsma there if you're gonna put Q in the finalists.

The Blackhawks almost broke the record for most successful NHL season this year...so yeah, Quenneville deserves a nod.

Boudreau, I can understand. Took the Ducks to the playoffs and really turned that team around.
MacLean, I can understand too. Through all the injuries to their top players and starting goalie, they still made the playoffs and found ways to win.
Quenneville? Best team in the league, sure, but they were a stacked team.

I think MacLean should take it though.

Agreed...no matter how much you might think, "oh all he has to do is open and close the door for his star players", he was gonna get nominated based off that no matter what.

Agreed with the picks, but MT should have been there instead of Quenneville

Yup that sums it up. Although the real thing is:

Karlsson: Missed 2 months or so with severed Achilles (freak of nature, the injury and the recovery)
Anderson: Missed 2 months or so with broken ankle?
Spezza: Has missed 4+ months with back injury (herniated disk i believe)
Cowen: Missed 6 months since October (in the AHL) with hip injury that required surgery
Michalek: Missed 1 month with knee injury (arthoscopic knee surgery performed)

This is why he's a Jack Adams finalist and I think the winner. Takes an injury-riddled team (and to key players) over the season and qualifies for the playoffs.

I think the reason Bergevin came in and got the nod for GM of the Year is cuz Chicago's team didn't really change, neither did Anaheim's really. MB added Prust, Bouillon, Armdog that gave the team a bit more size (just a bit, as Bouillon signing brought down their average by like an inch) and a little more physicality (all three of them, although Armdog much less).

They had the strongest start I've ever seen (wasn't it like 22 straight games to start the season without a regulation loss?)

Maclean wins it hands down...an amazing season for the Turds with alot of their stars out of the lineup...

No issues that MT wasn't selected...

Yeah, but Bergevin made all of the off ice moves. Sure Therrien is given the credit for changing the culture of the team, but I would argue that Bergevin made all of that happen with all his his hirings and moves. He also made a lot of really smart signings, like getting Pacioretty for a steal price and the way he handled the Subban situation. Also kicking Gomez off of the team right off the bat, sending a clear message. Sure he kind of messed up on the Desharnais contract, but he was trying to secure a 60 point player to a decent cap hit. It back fired, there's no question about that. Let's not forget he's a rookie GM as well. I think he deserved the nomination haha

And the Penguins almost broke a 20 year record of their own and did not lose a single game in the month of March

Maclean will win this anyways but I don't think Quenneville should be there. That's where they were projected to start the year
