Honestly until the kids start screwing up I would leave them in until the injured are 100%.

Seids is the only guy I desperately want back right now.

Krug and Hamilton looked very good on the PP and having a PP that can score against the Rangers (whose PP looks worse than ours) is a huge benefit against a team with an excellent goalie.

I agree HortyWoo......If anything FERENCE needs to be 100% healthy and if he is I would consider keeping KRUG in the lineup and replacing McQuaid with Ference....There is no question even besides the PP looking better......The D looked a lot better getting the puc out of the zone...The D just looked quicker and crisper. That element needs to be kept.

The Rangers might still beat us. But, I think they are a good matchup for us from a couple of angles. They don't exploit our
weaknesses.

1. We've had an awful defensive breakout for a month or more. The Rangers aren't a heavy fore-check team.

2. Our power-play stinks. There's is worse. But, they play a box packed in. Give us time to handle the puck. If you pressure our point men, they turn it over. They didn't bother. Maybe, the young guys will handle it better. But, too early to tell. We have enough size and skill to do something on the power-play if you don't pressure the point.

I agree with that. Bruins are up in the series, the young guys played well, so let them continue until the injured are nearing 100% or at least until the young guys start making errors. Not as if the other guys don't make errors occasionally as well.

Ference is our 8th dman at this point, seriously. Guy is toast. Yeah, let's remove the speed and jump from our D corp that actually netted an important goal last night to revert to the aging, devoid-of-offense, slow skating, just coming off injury Ference.

Yah, great idea.

Seidenberg, fine. But, I'm choosing from among Krug/McQuaid/Redden before I'm considering AF at this point; he will cost us more games than he'll win us.

Chara
Seidenberg
Boychuk
Hamilton
Redden
Krug
McQuaid
Ference

Ference should play. But at this point, Krug and Bartkowski should be above Redden on the depth chart. And I'd give the edge to Krug just for his power play skills.

That shows how strong the Bruins defense is. If McQuaid was a free agent, his phone would be blowing up. I'm sure Montreal, Buffalo and Toronto in particular would love to have him.

Now that being said, Hamilton is a better match-up against the Rangers. I'd keep him in over McQuaid.

I agree and I am not a McQuaid fan whatsoever, but I think he's actually looked pretty good this playoffs.

In the cup year our defensive depth was Hnidy. Now that was scary.

Don't know what to think really....the problem with keeping the young guys in is that Chara ends up with too many minutes and that could hurt down the road. But the D looked so good in game 1 - Kruger, Bart and Hammy all with passing grades. Obviously Seids is automatic when he is healthy, And I guess Ference too. Redden may have lost his spot. Other thing to remember is that we didn't lose to the Leafs with our original starting six.....either way, too much depth is good problem to have.

They just have to take it one game at a time on who is best to be left in there.
I'd probably replace McQuaid with Seidenberg if Seids was ready tonight. I like having 3 skaters and 3 bulls back there. Chiarelli did an excellent job acquiring depth. They've needed almost all of it so far.

There's just no chance Quader sits in the place of one of the kids. You guys know that too, you know how CJ operates. Not passing judgement, but come on. It's the exact same reason Soderberg is sitting instead of Thornton.

Who we had to use against Montreal when Chara was dehydrated. Yikes. That was scary.

seidenberg and ference should be both in (if healthy)

Im really impressed with bart and think he is defensively a better option than krug or hamilton... but hamilton brings more on the offensive side ..

hard to judge but I liked what I saw from redden too...

when/if we become 100% healthy on defense I think it will be:

Z-Seidenberg
Ference-Boychuk
Bartkowski-McQuaid

tough choices because Hamilton, Krug and Redden have all been solid but there's no way Claude sits Seidenberg or Ference when they're healthy. Seidenberg is our second best defensemen and Ference has been good when healthy and is a vet. I like the speed and skill Hamilton and Krug bring to the backend but I still don't trust Krug and Claude loves his d-men playing their strong side so that most likely means Hamilton will be watching from the press box again as well.

Bartkowski, on the other hand, has shown that he should still be in the lineup when everyone is healthy. I think he brings more to the table then Redden does. I hope he stays in the lineup no matter what

I love what Krug brings to the game. He plays with a confidence and looks like he is reacting to the flow of the game.

Seeing these kids gets me excited for what is to come. We know Hamilton is a future star, but Bartkowski and Krug are ready for the bright lights next year. Makes it increasingly unlikely that Ference is resigned and gives Chiarelli ammunition to make an off-season trade.

I think Krug will be Ference's replacement next year and Bart will be the 7th dman and I'd be happy to run with that. CJ will cycle between the 3 young guys throughout the season

honestly i would like to see McQuaid in the lineup over boychuk if we have to sit someone. i think McQuaid has playing a more solid all around game and has made few errors, from what i have seen.

There is a reason Boychuck got ten more minutes than McQuaid you know.
