I agree. And for whatever reason, people don't like to mention that he has a history of concussions. He missed almost 20 games due to one in his last year with Dallas, I beleive he had a relatively serious one the year before in Dallas, and this year he took that violent hit from Kaleta (I know he denied saying it was a concussion, but just saying).

Is it the reason why his play has been awful? No. Could it be a contributing part, esp given the mental sharpness, quite possibly.

My logic is that Weber's shot alone can transform our PP. Nobody on our D corps can provide the shot that Weber does. Granted his cap hit is a bit steep, but we could move some bodies(Girardi or Staal in ordet to make room).

Weber's offense on the PP alone could help quite a bit.

But, this only is a possibility if Nashville has an intention to trade him due to his cap hit. They may not.

The Predators are paying him over 2X what we are paying Brad right now. Something in the vicinity of $28 lemons Weber made this year, does that sound like someone who is available to trade?

I just saw a beaver near my house. My brother ran outside and yelled, "you suck at hockey!" to it.

I don't know what we'd be waiting for. Sather should buy Beaver out on the first possible day.

We have tried twice to solve the PP with a cannon shot player. Ales Kotalik, and Bryan McCabe. We almost got Souray.

It is a problem of attitude. The team isn't confident, or proactive with the puck. Richards is playing afraid, Stepan plays afraid on the PP.

Richards doesn't provide much mobility, so he needs to be partnered with a faster defenseman.

I don't know, they didn't want to lose him for nothing that is for damn sure. They also weren't the ones who wrote up that contract. They only matched the Flyers. Remember, Weber wanted to amend his contract with a no trade clause. Nashville management wouldn't give it to him.

With that said, they may not want to trade him at all. But we may see over the summer.

Our PP looked pretty good with Del Z and Kotalik. But Kotalik sucked at every other facet of the game. When we got McCabe, Del Z was sent back to the minors. So there wasn't a legit PPQB(Stepan hadn't gotten comfortable yet either).

We haven't really had the combo of PPQB and triggerman consistently on the PP.

Weber is signed for another 13 seasons. Go do cap recapture for Weber. The last 3 years of the contract. $1M each. The Rangers will take a cap penalty of nearly $9M per for 3 years. Weber carries nearly an $8M cap hit. Insanity. Stop thinking the Rangers are one player away. Nash was supposed to be that one player away. Some people never learn.

Shea Weber is arguably the best defenseman in the NHL (EK is better only).

Rick Nash is maybe a top 10 winger if lucky.

Way different scenarios. Comparing apples to oranges.

Nash is signed until hes 34.

You think Weber will continue to be one of the best defensemen in 8,10, 12 years?

Richards issues are physical. Not mental. Not being able to play at a high level and keep up with the pace are not mental.

Weber is obviously 9000 billion times the player Richards is now, but replacing one overpaid, long contract with another is not a route I want to take. Especially if you have to trade for it.

Maybe we were supposed to get Brad Richardson?

No thanks to Weber.

My best guess at Brad Richards' problem is that it's all mental for him. He's over-thinking every aspect of the game and isn't just flowing how a hockey player needs to flow. He has no confidence. Zero. Thus, he plays like this.

Weber for MDZ, Kreider, Thomas and a pick In all seriousness though, you buy out Richards this summer, and we're all pulling our hair out when Boyle is centering the third line again.

Well, Boyle on the third line is better than having a 7 m/y center on our third line

Need to get away from gettin the big fish all the time. Richards isn't worse than Redden/Gomez/Drury but still. We do have guys coming up but they aren't gonna be ready right off the bat for steady NHL top competition play, and that's just how it is. However, I do think the guys coming up are a better choice than a declining Richards.

Correction. Richards is currently our 4th line center...which makes it all the more worse.

I'm thinking at least give him 1 more shot next year, with a full camp, but if he doesn't come out flying, is it possible to buy him out during the season?

You can only amnesty a guy in the summer before free agency starts.

I'm all for bringing Richards back next season. We should be right cap-wise this upcoming offseason, it's 12 months after that we'll struggle.

Bringing Richards back would probably mean no Clowe. I'm ok with that.

I don't know, if we put Clowe's helmet on the ice at least it might block a shot or accidentally deflect a puck in the net, and it's a lot better cap hit than Richards.

POTY!

Why not buy out Richards and look towards Free Agency for a new center? Not sue if he is still available, but Ryan Getzlaf would be the perfect signing for this team IMO
