Eminger is only playing because of Staal's injury, what you see is what you get. Doresett has never been in this situation before--hopefully he will learn from his mistake since the Rangers need him to continue to play with snarl.

And taking the penalties didn't kill the Rangers' chances of winning--not being able to score on the power play is, was (and will continue to be) the biggest problem.

I think The Bickel is off the roster for the remainder of the playoffs. Miller as well.

Bickel was re-called after the Wolfpack season ended, but was sent home last week (along with Miller) because of a bad wrist. (info came from Ranger Rants)

Staal skated yesterday after the media left the rink to attend Torts press conference. Then the Rangers staff ushered Staal into the players room where no media is allowed so the media can't talk to him. What that means is unknown. He changed up the routine. Took a few days off and skated. Or he skated in private before yesterday.

Clowe and Staal would help this team so much its really too bad they are out. Ends up being a waste of the 2nd round picks on Clowe which is blows

if he was playing with this team we'd by far have the best d corps in the league..so sad these guys in there prime take these injuries like staal and of course sauer..

No, you're in the right spot. This is indeed our injury thread.

As for Sauer, we got nothing. Based on how this board treats him, TRUST me. If Mike ever resumes skating, it'd be the most popular thread here almost instantaneously.

I think people are romanticizing Sauer a little too much. When he had a turnstile at 6th D, it was obviously warranted. Now, I'd rather have John Moore. Maybe Sauer in his last year was better defensively, but Moore has IMO a higher defensive ceiling and a MUCH higher offensive ceiling. Stralman has become an EXCELLENT player. Sauer would definitely be an upgrade over MDZ defensively, but he also would take away a lot of offense from a blue line that doesn't have a real PMD. The one negative is that he would be the perfect replacement for Girardi. That way we could save cap money and get younger. However, in the near future I don't even see a place for him on this team.

Sauer was a solid bottom pairing guy who could spell a game or two in the top 4. I think some people like him so much because we haven't had a hitter like him since Kloucek.

IMO, Sauer was a #4 defenseman already.

Sauer didn't even hit that much....

He was certainly tough though. MDZ for example throws way bigger checks then Sauer ever did.

Sauer won't fix this team. They still have no PMD on the roster.

Sauer played fantastic positional D. He was easily a second pairing D-man with the toughness he played with as well. Really disappointing that he's done.

Who would you guys rather have Moore or Sauer if both were healthy?

Honestly, the only player on the D that I think I might rather have Sauer than without taking into account contracts or age (Girardi reference) is MDZ. However, no matter how stupid of a player MDZ is, we're still away a lot from our weakness on defense. Plus I still think he has upside (higher than Sauer's). He has a lot of talent. I think it's possible we would have not acquired Moore if we had Sauer.

Sauer would be a great option to have because I think he'd eventually replace G.

Of all the defenseman that have played in front of Hank, Sauer was probably the best at clearing the crease. While some of our current defensemen will push around opponents in the crease, no one does it as consistently as Sauer did.

Sauer was a legitimate top-4 shutdown defenseman.

Crease's description of Sauer is more my conceptualization of a Steve Eminger. Sauer was a true #4 blueliner. His complete and total lack of offense caused him to be underrated like a Tim Gleason.

Agreed.

Even with his lack of offense, Sauer had a great first pass. He was a great player. So pissed off about the concussion.

I don't think you know what a "PMD" actually is.

Because the Rangers have four defenseman with very good outlet passes. Staal also has a great outlet pass, but he's hurt.

No, the Rangers don't have that #1 offensive option on D. That i agree with.
