Is it worth cheering for Ottawa over Pittsburgh?

Looks like the Habs will likely be picking in the 25th spot with the possibility of going as high as 23rd spot if Ottawa and Detroit win their respective series.

Would any of you who have run mock drafts (with habs at 27th) make a different pick at 25th or even 23rd for the Habs?

This is my dilemma... I really dislike the Senators, so is it worth cheering for Ottawa over Pittsburgh so the Habs get a better pick?

No I prefer seeing the Penguins advance and the pick belongs to Dallas anyways. I doubt they steal our guy

I cheer for Ottawa just because Pittsburgh has already won a cup.

I prefer Penguins over Ottawa as well, but the Pens pick will be after the Habs no matter what. If Ottawa wins, however, they will pick after the Habs.

i don't get the part about if Ottawa wins we get a better pick??? I thought the picks were determine by the playoff results.

all 14 teams who missed the playoffs pick from 1 to 14 ... then the 8 teams eliminated in the first round are rank from where the finished in the regular season.. Habs had the best record of all 8 teams so in my opinion Habs would draft at #22 right?

No. Draft picks are determined as follows:

30th Stanley Cup winner
29th Stanel Cup finalist loser
28th Conference Finalist loser with higher season pts
27th Conference Finalist loser with lower season pts

After that the rankings go by
Division winner most points to least
Playoff teams most points to least

So the habs right now stand to pick:
25th if Chi and Pit win their series
24th if one of Ott or Det win their series
23rd id both Ott and Det win their series

If you give me $20 I'll cheer for Ottawa over Pittsburgh. Then it will be worth it to me. I don't really care where the Habs pick at that point in the draft. It's pretty unlikely that team lists will be so identical in this draft as to make 2 or 3 spots all that meaningful down where we're picking.

Of the teams remaining Chicago is the only team I like. But Chicago losing actually improves the Habs pick. I remember in 2001 the year the Habs drafted #8 they got Komisarek, at #7 Minny picked Mikko Koivu... what if? what if?

I don't think it matters that much, if there's a guy Timmins really want Bergevin can just trade up, it doesn't cost that much usually when you get in the 20's.

As a hockey fan, It's not even close which team is more entertaining to watch. Go Pens!

This is what happens when a team makes it to the second round for their soccer skills...

If Boston beats the Rangers, I want them to face Pittsburgh and not steam roll Ottawa to the finals.

Go hawks, of all the fanbases on this site they are easily the most humble that has recently won a cup.

hmmmm... hard to chose.

on one hand, you have a stacked team that was created by strategically tanking - the same thing they did when lemieux was up for draft. they have cook, and fleury is almost comically bad. the large majority of their fans are obnoxious. bylsma's quality. oh, and crosby's a big baby

on the other hand, paulrus is a hypocritical ***** of the highest order and he can eternally eat **** for that #61 bull**** he pulled: putting the blame on diaz rather than his own player; doesn't matter what you think, someone's in the hospital, keep it classy you fat ****. other than that, i like the roster and their fans have a good sense of humor - as long as it doesn't concern karlsson.

at the end of the day, cheering for pittsburgh because mclean can go **** himself

As a personal rule i always cheer against the team that beat the Habs. They beat us? Then i invoke the hockey Gods against them, light up a few pucks and broken hockey sticks and dance a magical mystical dance around them while they burn.

(and this year i know that a lot of walruses hated being compared to a human so they too are rooting for the Pens)

Honestly **** Ottawa. Hope they lose.

What % is Karsson at now that he's being exposed badly (again)?
