Why would they go somewhere not known for good hockey in a country with few good hockey areas lol

Well there aren't many rinks that are suitable with a large enough ice pad and enough dressing rooms. And most of the ones that are have a too busy schedule to be able to host an IIHF tournament in the middle of the season (Ice Sheffield, NIC, Hull)

Solway Sharks are the only senior team in Dumfries so they can easily fit it in the schedule

It isn't a great rink or place to have a tournament but so far nobody else has applied so it is worth a try

As I already explained, there aren't many suitable rinks meeting IIHF standard, who would have free space in the schedule to host.

Just looked over a potential roster for the U20's ('94 borns and younger)

Am I missing something or does it look like the roster will be mostly '95 borns on forward and almost an entire returnee group on D?

Curious to see if Liam Stewart ('94) and/or Scott Conway ('95) decide to play the U20s in GB

I've made what I think the roster could be, assuming Conway and Stewart don't play, the players in brackets are the reserves or guys with a legit chance. David Clements also decided not to play last year but I've included him anyway. This is just a provisional roster we will have to see how the first half of the season goes first. D looks good, goaltending looks good, forwards lack depth I honestly struggled to pick the last few guys

Goalies

Adam Goss - 95
Dan Lane - 94
(Jorge el Hage) - 94

Defence

Declan Balmer - 95
Sam Godfrey - 94
Zach Sullivan - 94
Jonathon Kirk - 95
David Clements - 94
James Wallace - 95
Ben Russell - 94
(Scott Robson) - 95
(Thomas Keeley) - 95
(Craig Moore) - 95

Forwards

Ross Venus - 94
Matt Selby - 95
Jordan Cownie - 95
Lewis Hook - 96
Oliver Betteridge - 96
Elliot Knell - 94
Dan Rose - 94
Bobby Chamberlain - 95
JJ Pitchley - 94
Harry Harley - 95
Myles Dacres - 95
Floyd Taylor - 95
Adam Taylor - 94
(Ryan Webb) - 94
(James Smith) - 94
(Cam Wynn) - 95
(Jordan Bannon) - 94

Smith and Bannon are some off the radar 94 borns who haven't played for GB before, I saw Smith play for Basingstoke and he was quite impressive but is a bit small, and Bannon's stats look decent enough.

lol everyone on my mock roster I made up, you listed.

How long has Matt Selby been a forward anyway? Wasn't he always a D-man? He was listed as a D-man at the last U20s

And I wonder if because the tournament is in GB, GB will push harder to get guys like Liam Stewart & Scott Conway to go to the tournament. When you're the host you expect results so they'll likely put a lot more effort into drawing those guys in who would play huge roles on a U20 team

I know in the CHL guys are encouraged to go to U20's, so it's not like Spokane will hold him back. For Conway I guess it depends where he ends up, USHL or NAHL. USHL he'll be on a new team and trying to establish himself in that league, basically playing for a scholarship. NAHL he'll be a returning player and likely one of their leading scorer so he might be a little more free to do as he pleases lol

Selby was played as a forward in the last U20 tournament because they took like 9 D, and he has been playing as a forward for Coventry. As I said the D looks good and forward depth really isn't good so I am assuming they will put him forward again.

I'm also not sure whether it's bad or not that two of our best forwards are the 96 borns. This group of forwards really does not look good, I think we will be lucky to avoid relegation. Last year was lucky that Croatia were so bad but Japan are coming up and they're much better.

The '94 group is soooo thin that all the best forwards are going to be younger, other than Ross Venus or if Liam Stewart plays. On the bright side all those '95 & '96 guys will make up an experienced group of forwards next season bu then the D will have question marks lol

God damn David Simms is annoying as a pimple on picture day in junior high.

Chirping GM's in the league to break story's
Chirping 19 year old GB Hockey players playing abroad
Chirping fans for unfollowing him because he rants idiotically rather then stating what he thinks he knows

GB U20's to play a pre-season tournament in Lithuania

http://www.icehockeyuk.co.uk/gb-u20s...ament--p184037

Quote:
GB will go head to head with Lithuania Under-20s, Poland Under-20s, Belarus Under-18s and Russian sides Omsk Hawks and Kapitan Stupino in the six-team tournament from 23rd to 28th August 2013.

Great Britain Under-20 head coach, Pete Russell, said: "It is terrific news for the Great Britain Under-20 program. This tournament will be great for our selection process and also our player development.

"It will be excellent experience for all players and staff during the trip. To go into Europe and play against other countries and top-level club teams will be great exposure for our lads and also for Team GB exposure
Some good news, could IHUK soon be taking their heads out of their arses?

They will be playing some tough teams, Poland U20's and Belarus U18's are D1A teams, and the Russian teams are from MHL which is a good level

Hi there!

I'm sorry for OT, but i wouldn't create another topic for the answer i seek

i'm moving to London next year, my brothers lives there and wants me to help him with his job. The problem is - me and my wife we've got a son (6 years old). He is currently playing hockey in children's team here back home in Russia (Ufa Salavat Yulaev hockey school). I'd like to know would we be able to find him a hockey school in London? Kid is fond of hockey and the game is kind of our family tradition, we originaly came from hockey mad region of Russia as i've mentioned before the city of Ufa (KHL club Salavat Yulaev based here).

I'd be grateful to hearsome answers, my brother says there is no ice hockey culture in London only in the North and in Scotland. I hope it's not so

Which part of London are you moving to? There are 3 junior clubs inside the city where your son could play. In North London there is Lee Valley and Haringey, and Streatham in South London. If you are willing to travel a bit further outside of the city, there are clubs in Guildford, Chelmsford and Slough, which are much better clubs with better coaches and would be better for your son especially when he is older.

Here are websites for the clubs inside the city:
http://www.leevalleylions.org.uk/
http://www.haringeyhockey.co.uk/

Not seeming to be biased but I am led to believe that Bracknell is by far the best club in terms of junior development in the South.

Just read the job description....................
