NYR Defense

Just took Rosival late in the draft hoping he'll be the man on the PP. Malik or Poti never impressed me. Can i get some projections for defensive scoring only.

And what will the PP Defensive lines be?

I'm pretty sure it will be Tyutin and Cullen on the first PP unit... and Rozi and Malik on the 2nd unit..

There's also Rachunek and Pck who would both be candiates to get power play time assuming one or both of them is in the lineup.

Roszival got lots of time on the power play last year because he was the only right-handed shot amongst the defensemen. That is no longer the case this season, with the additions of Ward and Rachunek. I wouldn't be surprised to see Roszival's time on the point cut significantly.

Don't know if Renney will start Tyutin and Cullen on the 1st unit, but with the addition of Ward, Roszival will loose pp time. The D has improved over last season, but Tom will more than likely play around some with the D pairings.

Not sure if I would count on Rozsival for PP numbers.

The defensive pairings will probably be:

Rozsival-Malik
Tyutin-Kasparaitis
Rachunek-Ward

If there is a wild card, it would be Rachunek, IMO.

I'm not sure Ward plays on the PP. But Rachunek certainly might.

I do not believe Rachunek is a given. Pock and Baranka might unseat him for the sixth spot. Personally, I believe Baranka deserves a regular spot with Pock as the seventh dman.

although I agree that Baranka has played better than others including Rachunek I think Rachunek is going to have to play his way out of the lineup before we can hope for Baranka to replace him. Other than Valiquette/Weekes there is one cut left and I think though unfair it is going to be Baranka.
