Kasper trade proposal

i wouldnt mind trading kasper and his 3+ salary plus a prospect to Chicago for Aucoin, coming off a terrible year. I think he is making 4M per. This would give us a 22-25 min/game guy with a nice shot on the pp. Just a thought. Chicago is not going anywhere soon so the prospect we give could just interest them. Am i way off with this?

There's no way they would do this just to shed about a half million.

Aucoin is a better defenseman, and both defenders are injury riddled.

There's no point in this, it's dealing for the sake of dealing.

If we need to do something, depending on what it is, we do it at the trade deadline in a run for the cup.

No real reason to make this deal, even with Kasper's salery being an eyesore

I wouldn't do this deal.. Kaspar is a great presence in the clubhouse, and it seems like a lot of the guys like him.

To me, the one big knock against Kaspar (other than his complete lack of O!) was that he would always go for the big hit, sacrificing sound positional play and often giving the other team an advantage. This seems to have changed in recent years -he still hits big, but not as often at inopportune times. Maybe age has mellowed him?

All in all, I don't want to see him moving until a yoot can take his place.

Kasparaitis isn't close to a 100 percent yet (as SOS predicted).

GIve him time.

isn't this Kaspar's last year? if so there's no reason we need to worry about a salary dump when we're already several million below the cap.

Doesn't Aucoin have more years left on his deal?

wow, you stud! I think Kaspar has two seasons left (including this one). At his salary, he'll be tough to move without eating some salary.

Kaspar has two years left (one after this). Didn't Aucoin sign 4 year deal? That would mean he has two years after this.

No I wouldnt make it because of the importance that Kasper makes to this organization. The character that he brings to the table, you can identify that he brings the new Rangers character that this organization is looking for their players now and the future.

Yeah... but last year, he was co-captain with Martin Lapointe. Why couldn't he take over as captain in the Windy City? But I would not trade Kasparaitis to Chicago. He payed his dues in the Western Conference when he played for the Avalanche.

Trading Kasper would not only be difficult because of his salary but it would also be foolish. So hes a little timid right now because of injuries from last season big deal. He is a veteran and he knows his body. Let him rest up and wait until he feels completley comfortable. In the mean time play Thomas Pock in his spot until he is healthy.

I think Aucoin did...

it's funny how in here Kaspar went from potential captain and mentor to last season's best defensive prospect to people wanting to get rid of him, out of shape, potentially sitting, etc. So many were excited about him being kept last season for three more years - now most wish that never happened.

Fletch...

Just goes to show you how time can change people's stances on certain issues.

I just hope he gets healthy, if not, we're screwed. Now we have to look for another physical stay-at-home defender, and a leader all in one.
