The head coach will probably be Babcock.

I don't think Carlyle should be there at all.

Babs as HC again, I think. MacLean as assistant.. maybe Hitch, too. Don't see Carlyle there.

MacLean should coach, with Adam Oates and former Columbus head coach Gerard Gallant as the other assistant.

Could definitly see MacLean as assistant to Babcock.

They did work together in Detroit so there's familiarity between the two.

I wouldn't mind a coaching staff of Babcock, Maclean and Hitchcock. They would bring a strong defensive mentality, and Canada's biggest problem at the tournament is going to be stopping other teams from scoring. I'd also like to see some coaches from Europe get consideration due to their experience with larger ice

I'm surprised Bruce Boudreau is not in the running. Has won the Jack Adams, is a finalist once again. The big name players perform great for him and love to play for the guy and I believe he would succeed coaching a team of all-stars on international ice. Not that I think he should be the coach or is a better option than the great coaches regularly running the show, but thought he'd have his named dropped once or twice by now.

Coach Babcock, Hitchcock, MacLean, and Ruff are my four. I'm guessing they are going to try keeping the 2010 group together and adding MacLean will be a terrific addition. I wouldn't be surprised if they have input from different Canadian coaches in Europe as well such as Doug Shedden.

Should reunite the old team of Babcock/MacLean/McLellan.

Yep. Or put Ralph Krueger in there, he has a lot of IIHF coaching experience.

It's for the assistants positions, no?

I want Andy Murray to be part of the coaching staff. We need someone with international experience and success.

Yeah that's why I picked him and Hitch as he was in '10 team and they believe in playing the same way.

For gods sake, you can hand pick the best coaches in the world and you choose Carlyle?

The rest of the world thinks Canada definitely needs to make Ruff head coach.

Babcock/Mclean/Mclellan is a no-brainer. Make it happen, Canada.

On the contrary, I want Canada to have the best coaching and team at Sotshi so there won't be any excuses should they fail to medal (I consider the top nations to be fairly close at these tournaments with the in-form team being random every time and medal finish being good for any country).

Anything besides gold is not good enough for us Canadians because its our game.

What's wrong with Carlyle? Why exactly is he getting crapped on in this thread?

2nd most playoff wins since '06 behind Babcock, Stanley Cup in '07, and his teams are almost always competitive. He's able to get a lot out of players and have them on the same page
