Crosby... I thought Giroux was the best player in the world?
But for a real answer, Malkin. He has carried a team, which cant be said about Stamkos.

If Stamkos were in the playoffs, or played somewhere other than florida, he would easily be most peoples #2

if stamkos were able to lead his team to the post season, he would get more consideration. also, his offensive numbers are inferior to malkin's.

Its funny how people tear down Crosby and Malkin because they play with each other but people go gah gah over Stammer, who plays with maybe the best passing, two way winger in the league.

Forwards
1) Crosby
2) Malkin
3) Ovechkin
4) Stamkos
5) Datsyuk
HM - Tavares, Toews/Kane, St. Louis

I'm probably missing someone obvious...

1. Crosby
2. Ovechkin
3. Stamkos
4. Tavares
5. Malkin

- I find it extremely hard to believe that everyone is naming Ovi last on these lists. I know I'll just look like a homer, but you cannot tell me when the guy is on that there is anyone who can dominate as he does. Malkin is as streaky/typicallazyrussianmentality as they come. You could say Ovechkin is streaky, but when a 30 goal season is HORRIBLE for him, you know there's something special.

- Datsyuk is GROSSLY overrated on these boards. I have NOTHING against the Red Wings, and nothing against the guy himself. But when he's constantly listed as one of the best players ever, and top 3 currently, it's laughable to me. Great all round player, but generational talent? Hardly.

- Stamkos deserves to be up there simply because of his consistency. From what I've seen, the guy is always on. Sure there are nights he doesn't score, but he's constantly a threat, and that makes him top tier.

Skill wise it's Malkin and it's not that close. But like other people said he can be very lazy at times. But when he turns it on, you can see how unstoppable he really can be. If he played as hard as Crosby out there every minute we would be having a conversation about who is better between the two.

Not too much two way about either of their games, that is a big part of the problem. Not saying they are the worst of all time or anything there, but they are offensive dynamos, neither deserves the term two way.

1. Crosby and Lundqvist
2. Weber and Karlsson
3. Malkin
4. Stamkos and Chara
5. Datsyuk, Ovechkin, St Louis
6. Kovalchuk
7. Getzlaf, Perry, Giroux, Z, Sedins, Toews, Kane, Thornton, Parise, Kessel, Bergeron, Quick, Kopitar, Doughty, Pietrenagelo, probably three or four players in this category that I missed.

This is the MVP`s for me.

Have you ever seen Datsyuk play? And you put Stamkos over him... I mean I love Stamkos but Datsyuk is better, you just know by watching them.

No one says Ovie is overrated, yet most ppl put Ovie over Dats when in reality Dats is judged the better Russian in recent years, but Datsyuk is overrated. Doesnt make sense. HF standards at its finest.

To be best at the time you should dominate full regular season(malkin 2012) or lead your team into stanley cup and win Conn Smythe. So imo 1st spot is still open. It's based on each years performance. It's not some title you hold 20 years unless you're best each year.
