Jordan Eberle

To Edmonton:

I'd rather Alzner to be honest.

This is actually a topic I've pondered for a while, consider the draft history of the two players. Edmonton fans were horrified when Washington traded up 21st in the 2008 draft, fearing they would take Eberle. Instead, they took Anton Gustafsson and Edmonton took Eberle at 22. Obviously that doesn't look good, but if the draft went differently, then perhaps Carlson wouldn't be available for Washington at 27.

That being said, I was on the fence about this deal for Washington a year ago. Since Ovechkin moved to right wing and Brouwer scored at a ~30G pace, it doesn't really make sense for the Caps right now. They're fine at right wing, and can't really afford to regress defensively.

That would be an incredibly stupid deal for Edmonton.

Don't really see either team taking it. Washington doesn't need Eberle, and Eberle should be able to bring back a better dman (not saying Carlson's bad)

What kind of dman would you give up for eberle?

Edmonton fans so laughably overvalue their players. Got a bunch of 1-rounders and consider them as generational talents. Perhaps they would demand a stellar dman like Letang or Weber for Eberle, no less.

RW is the probably the deepest position on the Caps right now. There's no way we pay what it'd take to get Eberle.

The OP really wants to get rid of Eberle. Think it's like 3rd or 4th thread trading Eberle to other teams

That's a negative from the Caps. If Carlson's going, a top-line caliber center or top=pair caliber defenseman has to be coming back.

Definitely not a RW.

Until rielly is given a fair shake I wouldn't do that. And you need centers not more wingers.

Its strange he said that, cause it does seem like a good straight up deal (value wise).

The value straight across is very close but I don't think Washington is in a position to trade him.

Nor should you and yep, but Eberle isn't your typical winger. He could control offense on his line much like Kessel makes do with Bozak.

Laki has no life so this is what he does. Has for a few years. Bombards the trade boards with Oiler trades

This guy has turned into the biggest Oilers troll this year. I'm not even 100% sure if he's an Oilers fan because he keeps making proposals which clearly make absolutely no sense for Edmonton.

Carlson had a down year this year and on top of that we don't need a PMD. We need another stay at home guy right now. Petry and Schultz move the puck around just fine.

It's not that its far off. I'm not expecting a legit #1. I see Carlson more as a #3 is all

Carlson would be a number 1 in Edmonton. Only reason he's a number three right now is because Washington has alzner and Green ahead of him. He would be a number two on most teams in the league, and a number 1 on a couple of teams.

No way Edmonton is splitting up Petry-Smid. Easily one of the best shutdown pairings in the league. The only way Schultz ends up leaf frogging them in minutes is if we land one of the top 15 d-men in the league. No joke.

Oilers want a shutdown #1? Marc Staal's your guy. Staal for Eberle straight up, maybe Rangers add a touch.

I think the smart money would be on Staal going to Carolina when this contract is done, so no thanks. A few short years of Staal isn't worth moving Eberle
