Very intriguing, I'm a big fan of Pysyk's and would really hate to see him go but this would get me thinking.

From what I've seen of Pysyk, I would like to have him in the Oilers system. I just don't know if its worth it for Edmonton to drop so far down in the draft, and lose Pitlick (although I'm not necessarily adverse to this).

I would rather add Zadorov or Nurse over Pysyk. I wouldn't complain if Monahan dropped to #7 either.

Pysyk was a 1st round pick in 2011---He actually played for Edmonton in the WHL. Are you not familiar with him?

Personally I wouldnt do this deal. i dont think much of Pitlick....He doesnt amount to much other than a 3rd/4th line forward.

The way Pysyk played this year he should project as a top 4 Dman.

I dont give up Pysyk just for pick #7 from #16....Pitlick coming back doesnt balance it out.

IMO Sekera is more expendable than Pysyk.

I dont see the point in moving Pysyk for Ristolainen. To me its a wash and basically pushes the Dman back 2 years.

Ristolainen's experience in the SM-Liga means he could make the team immediately

How long has it been since I've seen an Oiler proposal which makes sense?

hmmm, as mentioned above we really like Pysyk over in Buffalo, not sure I would do this though, Buffalo is trading 2 mid-first round picks for a top 10 pick and a meh prospect.

Not really. How many d-men make the NHL at 18? He'd likely be a year or 2 wait. By the time he's NHL ready, Pysyk will already be eating top 4 minutes.
As has been said, I'd hate giving Pysyk up. What he's shown so far is that he doesn't just project as a top 4 d-man, but a tough-minutes one. Buffalo sure as hell needs one or two of those. Not sure what we really gain by trading a kid who's developing beautifully into that role.

As much as oiler fans don't like it Sabres fans won't like it either. Pysyk showed he's at least a top 4 guy and possibly a top 2 guy that can play against other teams top guys and log tons of minutes. If Pysyk is traded its in a deal to get to a top 3 pick. No reason to move him otherwise.

No thanks. Pysyk's development has been tremendous and very worthy of 23rd overall.

I know you guys would like to see him back in Edmonton, but he projects well in our lineup more than an undrafted prospect.

I'm not interested in moving Pysyk at all. He's the type of steady presence the Sabres need moving forward. He'll be in the top 4 next season.

Not good for the Oilers. Buffalo would have to give more.

Maybe something involving Tyler Myers.

The Sabres wouldn't do this in advance of the draft. If Barkov-Lindholm-Monahan went 4-6, it'd be a disaster for Buffalo. Pysyk is NHL-ready now, and he'll make the team out of training camp. If they gave up on Pysyk just so they could draft one more of Nurse/Ristolainen/Nichushkin, I'd be pissed.

I'm not all that high on Pitlick, either.

Just like Armia's experience in SM-Liiga during his draft year meant he'd make the Sabres immediately? They shouldn't rush Ristolainen if they draft him. They already pissed away a year of Grigorenko's ELC. (And you can even make an argument they did the same with Girgensons, given they spent a year of his ELC and there's no guarantee he developed more than he would have in another location, but that's conversation for a different thread.)

I don't want to waste a year of Ristolainen, too. Let him play in Finland for at least another season, and re-evaluate before 2014-15.

Please.

Girgensons deal slides this year and may slide next year too if he doesn't play 9-NHL games.

Other than that, agree 100%. Nicely said.
