Some of our players will want a raise... and we need a legit bottom 6. Also even a steady 6/7 D man, depending on multiple variables

I agree. Also, considering how little ice time Torts 4th line usually gets, I'm fine with Boyle staying on the 3rd line (gasp) and letting JT Miller be our 4th line center.

We can spend the Richards money on more depth to replace Pyatt and Powe and another D.

So, the plan is, giving the players deserving/wanting a raise, a raise, add a few bottom players, and win the cup with this roster? Unless Nash comes out looking like he's been reborn, we won't contend for anything with this team.

Depends who's available. You don't have to spend to the cap. Save the $ for players we already have. We have a very young team, with great potential. I don't want a single of those players to be lost due to no cap space or something.

I just loathe how the mentality of this franchise come July is always "Who are we buying?", rather than "Should we be buying?".

Although, this years FA class is massive, I'm kind of scared...

You know who I want them to spend money on? The best PP coach around, whoever that is.

Honestly, from the skill stand point nothing. He is fast and skillful, he fills needs for sure.

I feel he is cancerous to the team. Now maybe he has matured and such but I am not so sure he fits in with this team and Tortorella. I can be wrong, but giving him a big contract is not something I would do.

It's just my preference/opinion, I just don't like cancerous players. Carter for instance has worked out in LA. He and Richards matured seemingly overnight, Maybe Kessel would as well but I just don't bank on stuff like that.

Is there anything to base that Kessel is a locker room cancer? Besides him battling cancer in his rookie season?

I don't necesserily think we should offer all the extra space for some 50 year contract that continues after the player died of age, but the team clearly needs help.

Talking about the franchise that hasn't learned since Phil Esposito and Ken Hodge?

I'm not saying we should go out and sign Kessel, although I sure wouldn't be upset if we did, but where in the world are you getting the locker room cancer thing? From all accounts he's been quite a leader on Toronto in his time there.

I know he had the issues with his drafting but that was quite some time ago.

Also, I've watched quite a few Toronto games this year, the guy doesn't take shifts off and is an exceptionally fast player. He'd fit quite well into our dump and chase system.

Again, not advocating for him, but to say we shouldn't go after him because he's a locker room cancer is absurd. No proof and that's just grasping at straws.

Kessel is fine in the locker room. His effort level and defensive game has also improved leaps and bounds. He is an elite winger.

Would not try and sign him though. He's a RW and I'd prefer the Ranger stay away from bigger name free agents.

Although I do love Kessel.

You thought Boyle played poorly and thought Richards was good?

Absolutely laughable. He was garbage, again.

Multiple times where he could have kept the puck in on the point and didn't. Multiple times where he should shoot the puck but instead tries to SQUEEZE a pass through multiple bruins players, only to have it cleared the other way.

Garbage, trash, thank god we were blessed with 2 buyouts and not 1.

Good riddance Richards. Join the elite crew of Redden, Drury and Gomez.

i hope Sather learned his lesson but I don't see that happening at all. Drury, Gomez, Redden, Richards, you really can't make this stuff up.

I still don't think the Rangers buy him out until after next season. There's too many excuses for them to throw around the board room: "Don't worry it's just one bad year,"
"The lockout shortened season is different for everyone,"
"Give him a full training camp and see what he can do."

I just don't see it happening, even with the risk of injury to him next season.

it's not just a bad year, he's slow, does not make decisions with the puck until it's too. late, and his vision is no longer there.. all of those were plusses for him, he has none
