No one says Ovie is overrated, yet most ppl put Ovie over Dats when in reality Dats is judged the better Russian in recent years, but Datsyuk is overrated. Doesnt make sense. HF standards at its finest.
How's the best Russian award more relevant than the Hart or Lindasy award? Ovechkin has won both of those awards and finished high in voting many times, Datsyuk has never won either of them. NHL players and media clearly view Ovechkin as the better player.

You can be MVP of your team and not be the best in your nationality...

Regardless you missed the point...

I said in recent years (meaning the last 3 years). Ovechkin didnt win any of the 3 listed. Datsyuk won Kharlamov 2 yrs ago and this year. Now follow my logic. Ppl on HF boards say Datsyuk is overrated this and that. Ovie is never overrated when discussed among the best in the league. When ppl say Ovie > Dats its generally accepted. When ppl say Dats > Ovie its Dats is the most overrated on HF. Yet Datsyuk is the one with anything to back up his case and his numbers suggest he is a bigger difference maker of the two. Yes this year Ovie is starting to look back in form but he's only been good for 30 or so games.

So then how do you explain Ovechkin winning the Lindsay award for "most outstanding player"? Datsyuk has never won that award, while Ovechkin was nominated again this season.

Malkin just floats in his own zone watching the other teams offense go. Just watch the Isles series if u haven't watched him closely. He's been getting away with it for years because he produces numbers. Ovie at least gives effort.

- I find it extremely hard to believe that everyone is naming Ovi last on these lists. I know I'll just look like a homer, but you cannot tell me when the guy is on that there is anyone who can dominate as he does. Malkin is as streaky/typicallazyrussianmentality as they come. You could say Ovechkin is streaky, but when a 30 goal season is HORRIBLE for him, you know there's something special.

- Datsyuk is GROSSLY overrated on these boards. I have NOTHING against the Red Wings, and nothing against the guy himself. But when he's constantly listed as one of the best players ever, and top 3 currently, it's laughable to me. Great all round player, but generational talent? Hardly.

- Stamkos deserves to be up there simply because of his consistency. From what I've seen, the guy is always on. Sure there are nights he doesn't score, but he's constantly a threat, and that makes him top tier.
I'm in totally agreement with you and I hate when people just look at point totals and say the player is better

If you are comparing them based on their last 2 or 3 years, yes you can make a case for Datsyuk. But this season and in his career Ovechkin has been the better player. What numbers suggest Datsyuk is the bigger difference maker? Goals, assists, trophies? Please specify.

The best Russian award isn't all that relevant. Datsyuk has only once been nominated for the Lindsay, Ovechkin has been several times. Lindsay > best Russian.

Malkin behind Tavares? U serious bro? They just got done playing a series against each other and Malkin easily outscored Tavares.
Also laughing at people putting Datsyuk ahead of Crosby and others for putting Toews over Datsyuk.

We arent talking careers... why do you insist on bringing it up when the original post was specific. You sound like a Ovie fanboy im sorry but being honest.

I'm far from an Ovechkin "fanboy". I'm a Penguins fan who hates the guy, but I know how good he is. If anyone is being a "fanboy" it's you arguing that your teams player is better than Ovechin.

Ovechkin will finish in the top 3 in Lindsay voting this season by his peers, Datsyuk will be very far behind him. Ovechkin had a couple of poor seasons but he's just a more dominant player than Datsyuk, and he proved it again this season.

A healthy Karlsson is my pick. But since he isn't anywhere near 100% right now I think it's Malkin.
