Its supposed to be a tight series and our advantage is supposed to be in net. Play was even in regulation except for 2 soft goals. OT on the other hand was a disaster

Richards has a better chance of making a positive impact than Newbury. Message or not, you field the lineup you can in the playoffs.

Yeah, but our special teams even things out:

Their PowerPlay - Team U.S.S.R.

Our Powerplay - Team 1890's Japan

Rangers aren't winning the Stanley Cup no matter what - too much dead wood on this team, and coaching stinks.

So, tasks for the summer:

Del Zotto - learn to skate faster or get traded.

Richards -retire

Pyatt - lose weight and get in shape

Nash - conditioning so you don't run out of gas in the playoffs

Moore - lift some weights, you'll be counted on much more next year.
First thing is first: Fire Tortorella, hire Laviolette.

2) Amnesty Richards.

3) Resign Zuccarello. Resign Boyle.

4) Trade Del Zotto.

5) Call up Miller. Call up Lindberg. Call up McIlrath. (All by deadline next year, do not believe all of them will be ready by start of next year).

6) Trade Pyatt + Do not resign Asham + Do not resign Clowe.

7) Sign Staal to an extension, or trade him at the deadline if he refuses. Cannot let him walk for nothing.

Zuccarello-Stepan-Nash
Hagelin-Miller-Callahan
Kreider-Brassard-Lindberg
Powe-Boyle-Dorsett

Staal-Girardi
McDonough-Stralman
Moore-McIlrath

Hank
Biron

I honestly don't know if I believe that at this point. Richards is just...bad.

see my later post...basically explains that could hurt the room (may not), but how much the players look up to him I think it could hurt

Play was not even in 2 periods. We had an awful forecheck. They had far more quality scoring chances than we did. Our whole team played sloppy. We did not control any zone today and we had countless amounts of defensive break downs.

Newbury's contributions would probably be inconsequential but Richards is a ****ing liability.

When a guy is blatantly not doing his job -and we're not talking one or two mistakes, we're talking constant failure- what that is happening, it's your job as a coach to get him off the ice.

What does Torts do? Richards continues to get 2 minutes on every powerplay, and he ****ing sends Girardi out to start the 3rd period. Unfathomable.

I'd love to know what the guys are thinking regarding Richards. I can count on one hand the amount of good games the guy has had this season and playoffs. How can his teammates just look the other way when he's been brutal for a good 5 months? It's gone well beyond the 'slump' stage.

I wonder if Torts "cryptic" comments about changes off the ice that need to be made are referring to a) player's attitudes/nightlife problems or b) mike sullivan and his handling of the power play (and a possible need for a coaching change).

I don't know what else they can mean.

If people in that room actually look up to that squid then the whole room can go.

Having a full head of hair at Torts age goes a long way with earning locker room respect.

I said it before and you can call me out for it but I didn't see and I don't see this team hoisting any hardware. Not with these coaches, not with this system, and yes, not with these players.

I've been hearing about our window of opportunity for years now; you have a better shot at winning something sooner rather than later.

Some players in the locker room have witnessed the decline of other veterans before (Redden and Drury), so seeing the same thing happen to Richards is probably no big deal to them. This sort of thing is probably becoming a tradition for them.

That's true, especially for Stepan who's going bald at 22.
