Well Ribeiro's already getting paid a lot and he said he'd take a pay cut from his market value if he gets a long term deal (Doesn't want to have to pack up his wife and kids a third time) but something around where he's getting paid now.

I really don't see a good fit for Ribeiro here. He's too much on the small side

Ribeiro at $4.5M or thereabouts on a three year term is a good signing. Anything more - which is likely - and that team will be sorely disappointed. The Leafs are better off re-signing Bozak and/or chasing Weiss if Ribeiro is eyeing a payday.

If I'm the Leafs, I'd make a push for Ryan O'Reilly from the Avs.

The Avs could be leaning towards MacKinnon in the draft - I would - always take the best forward.

A much better fit for the Leafs than Ribiero. The Leafs have the assets to make it happen too.

How about Gunnarsson and a 2nd round pick for O'Reilly and a 3rd? Then the Avs have Gunnarsson for their top 6 and can explore trading Stastny as well.

Landeskog-Duchene-Parenteau
D. Jones-MacKinnon-Downie

Johnson-Wilson
Hejda-Gunnarsson
Barrie-O'Brien

Leafs get O'Reilly to play with Lupul and/or Kessel.

Why? He would instantly be an upgrade over Bozak thats for damn sure. Ribeiro is filthy at dishing the puck, him and Kessel would light it up.

One thing is for sure, we can't go into next season with Bozak being our number 1 guy. I'll be extremely disappointed with the status quo, we need a big upgrade and way more depth at center if we're going to start making some real noise.

Im sure Colorado will take Seth Jones. D is their most glaring need

He will get easily more than 4,5m.

They draft Jones because he's the best player. You don't draft for need #1.

Haha, wow. I'd take Ribeiro at $5.5M or something over Bozak at $4M eleven times out of ten.

Bozak/Grabo can both play the third role but honestly I wouldn't be sad to see either traded or in the case of Bozak us just walking away from him in the summer. I certainly hope we don't give Bozak a multi year deal over 3 million. This guy is the latest version of Moore or possibly even Stajan when they were Leafs.

McClement is a beauty stopper that has added a lot to this team and needs to play 3rd line minutes whether it's at center of on the wing (then as our top PK guy). We've also got Colborne almost ready for the show who can be groomed into a 3rd line center and Komarov who at the very least is an excellent 4th liner center.

Based on what? It has been clearly evident character and attitude are paramount in player aquisitions and drafting. Ribero is the exact oposite. People go squirelly because he has an offensive side to his game and can "dangle" yet his character issues seem to go unnoticed by some. Thanks but no thanks, wouldnt take him for free and I doubt the Leafs do as well.

I don't think Ribeiro is a good fit for Kessel. Would rather someone defensively responsible, preferably with size, who can cycle and has more offensive prowess than Bozak. You know, adding another dimension to that line instead of more of the same.

If Ribero is looking at 5+ year deal from Washington he's not going to accept a 3 year deal from Toronto.

Cycle you say? Why not sign the cycling machine in Jagr.

I honestly would not be surprised if Leafs targeted Ribs or Weiss.

This is a revived trade deadline thread, I highly doubt the Leafs go after Rebeiro at this stage. Weiss might be a better fit but I think he is going to get insane money.

Ribiero should stay in WSH but we shall see.

He is going to get a ton cause he's the best C out there. Weiss is good but had a crap yr

I could see the Rangers signing one of them and buying out Richards. its inevitable Richards will get bought out this yr or next

If the Caps are sellers, the Leafs o definitely have the prospect depth to pull off the deal. Could be Tyler Biggs, which would give the Capitals two big, tough power forwards in-waiting.
Leafs should target ribs. I always thought he was a perfect fit for them. I do think he will ask for 5 +

Why not? they keep their fairly strong farm system intact, all he costs is money and he would be a HUGE upgrade on Bozak

Ribs is also 3 years older than Weiss, who is better than them both.

So this is all based off a trade deadline rumor, so I think we'll deep-six this one and start an all-purpose Ribeiro thread, m'kay?
