BRB, is it Del Z you are leaving out?

Staal. But MDZ is playing his way out of being dependable.

Staal is out. He doesnt think he can help the team. Im not so sure thats going to be fixed anytime soon.

He seemed to have a devil of a time locating pucks at his feet in game 3.

Had those mistakes been Capitalized (Ha!) on, I think we'd be more critical of Stralman as a group. Obviously the turn over in game one that led to the soft goal on Hank really sticks out in my mind, but there are other times where he's made similar plays where he over-handles the puck and is either bailed out by another player, or manages to recover himself. However, I'm just fine with being out on my own island.

In the "big picture" they're minor mistakes and thus are minor criticisms. Just making a point.

Eminger has been terrible. And if Torts is losing confidence in Del Zotto, then they're in real trouble. It was bad enough playing with 5 defensemen last playoffs.

I think that was all I was trying to say, its minor compared to how well he has played when not turning the puck over

But who actually thought MDZ and EMG were bound to play flawless hockey when paired together? Both need a safety net, like Stralman has been to Del Z.

I've never liked Eminger. Del Zotto has surprised me. Flawless hockey, no? I thought serviceable from Del Zotto wasn't out of the question to me.

Del Z made a mistake in 13+ minutes, it was understandable, not an easy play. Eminger was on the ice for 5 minutes total. Wonder who the weak link is....

Again, overall he's been good, but not great. Just my 2 cents.
All of our dmen have been guilty of week clearing attempts...he was atrocious on the goal at the end of the 2nd, but 9 games out of 10 he is fairly mistake free.

So, there is not a single player in the history of hockey or any sport for that matter, that you should consider having had a great performance.

22+ TOI today and +1.

Why does Torts mixing it up so much? Thought Stralman and DZ were doing fine.

Playing 53 games last year and 44 this year, his presence has been known more often for his solid defensive play and opportunistic offensive skills than defensive lapses and liabilities. When a 4-6th defenseman goes through dozens of games without being mentioned despite playing 17-21 minutes a game, it's a testament to the consistency of play. The emergence of McDonagh as an elite defenseman, Dan Girardi as a shutdown defenseman dominating in minutes and blocked shots and the pedigree of Marc Staal and even the ever mysterious orb of swagger that is Michael Del Zotto, Anton Strålman has taken a back seat in the discussion and praise of NYR fans and on HFNYR.

At the age of 26, Stralman can become a part of our core for years to come given his solid play and the lack of pedigree which should be a upside to Slats' bargaining. Of the player discussions we have ranging between Michael Haley, Stu Bickel, Marian Gaborik, Taylor Pyatt and JT Miller, there is an absence of our of resident Swede on defense. In short, Anton Strålman everybody.

And Del Zotto... I don't even remember Stralman in today's game, which isn't a bad thing.

Stralman, Del Zotto, and Moore are the only defensemen on the Rangers who can exit the zone while under pressure. Everyone else just sends it around the boards. Del Zotto didn't help with his poor decisions.

I would like to see DZ scratched in favor of Staal soon. And Torts needs to stop telling them to shoot a wraparound whenever there's any sort of forecheck by the other team.

If Staal comes back (doubtful at this point), then Eminger will sit. He is the weakest link.

I remember him throwing one of the Bruins at center ice, that's not a bad thing either

He's nastier than he looks.

How has he been this season and this post season?
How do you rate him?
How much would you pay him per year to keep him?
Is he a top 5 d man or higher now?
Any info about him would be great =)

1. Excellent. Probably stepped his game up a bit in the post season against tougher competition, but was a thoroughbred the regular season.

2. I think he's a #2 defenseman that is being held back by the Rangers depth at RD. I think he's better than Girardi, but Girardi has the history of logging minutes. Not sure how he'd fare with a 27 MPG workload.

3. Personally, I think it's an absolute necessity to keep him around. With his play this season, I would pay an upwards of 5-5.5 for him, which is a bargain compared to what an inferior player in MacDonald got.

4. Definitely above a top 5 dman.

He's a possession phenom that makes his defense partner much better.

He has been Awesome. Physical, calm with the puck. Doesn't seem to make as many mistakes anymore. Has really stepped up his game in the playoffs. Still very underrated.

He got mangled by three Kings last night and still managed to make a great defensive play. I really hope management pays to keep this guy in New York.
