Goalkeeper Robert Mayer, despite a signed agreement in February 2013, which contains no exit clauses, decided to continue his career in North America.

The EHC Biel is dependent on motivated players who play with conviction and total commitment to our club. These conditions could no longer meet Robert Mayer.

The contract with Robert Mayer is still not resolved. The EHC Biel Sports AG will allow the claims against the player, if necessary, the courts clarify our claims for damages should not be fulfilled.

I thought he might when he was Montreal's back-up goalie when Price went down, rather than Dustin Tokarski.

Mayer can stay if he wants but with Price, Budaj, Tokarski (I hope) ahead of him on the depth chart, he probably won't see any game action with Montreal next year.

Also, Jeff Taffe, who played last year for Hershey of the AHL on an AHL deal, has signed with Linkoping of Sweden.
Taffe and Sterling (Chicago Wolves) both signed lucrative AHL deals last year. Now, they are both gone to Sweden.

It'll be interesting to see which top AHLer(s) will get big paycheck from either Hershey or Chicago.

I'm not sure that Tokarski is ahead of him on the depth chart. If he were (Unless he was injured), don't you think he would have dressed as Budaj's back-up when Price was out?

I wouldn't read too much into this. Whether it was Tokarski or Mayer, it was very unlikely that any of them would have played.

Maybe they went with Mayer because he had more familiarity with the team.

per the MrMadhawk.se site two young RFAs are receiving interest from Swedish clubs, New Jersey AHL goalie Jeff Frazee (who has already received an offer) and Bruins AHL defender Colby Cohen (who has previously had interest in him).

Per Elite Prospects, G Mark Dekanich who played this past season for St. John's of the AHL while under contract to Winnipeg, has signed with Medvescak Zagreb of the KHL. Dekanich, 27, is scheduled to become an UFA this summer. He was originally a 5th round pick, 146th overall of Nashville, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

Here's hoping Biel can somehow get Mayer back. He's marginal as an AHL goalie, and I don't know why the Habs would even want him back. There are dozens of free agent goalies they could consider for a minor league spot if Tokarski is heading overseas or something. There's no contest on ability... Tokarski is light years ahead of Mayer. But even if Tokarski has told the Habs he's not going to stick around, then there should have been a multitude of options for the Habs to consider before trying to bring Mayer back, alas. Go Biel.

#Preds sign Milwaukee F Mark Van Guilder to a 2-year, 2-way contract worth $550,000 at NHL level next 2 yrs. He's played last 4 yrs in Mil.
Van Guilder, a 29-year-old center, had 14 goals and 30 points in 72 games with Milwaukee in the AHL this past year, a career high. He was never drafted.

Tappara (SM-liiga) signs STL G Zoltan Hetenyi. He was technically on an AHL contract but was part of an NHL trade.

From "Dude Where's My Car." The group name was Zoltan. Google it my friend.

Anyway, Hetenyi wasn't even playing for us at all. Never suited up for the Blues on an level. He was gone from the start.

He was on an AHL deal with Milwaukee and traded to Peoria along with Marc-Andre Bouvette in the much-heralded Jani Lajunen-Scott Ford deal. Shortly after the trade, Hetenyi was reassigned to a different ECHL team, got drunk and sexually harassed a waitress while shouting racial epithets. Obviously, he was released by the ECHL team.

Added Chris Bruton to the UFA list as he's too old, really, to be a prospect.

Per Elite Prospects, Juuso Puustinen, who played this past season with Milwaukee of the AHL, has signed with HIFK of the SM-liiga for next season. Puustinen, 25, had 15 goals and 15 assists in 72 games for Milwaukee of the AHL. Puustinen, who was originally a 5th round choice, 149th overall of Calgary in 2006, is scheduled to become a RFA this summer.

Moved Andy Sutton and Alex Kovalev to the newly-created 'Retired' section in Post 3 of the thread.

Also moved Alexander Nikulin, a UFA of Phoenix, to the signed overseas section.

Per Elite Prospects, RW Hugh Jessiman, mostly known for being the worst pick in maybe the best first round of the NHL draft ever, has signed with Medvescak Zagreb of the KHL. The hulking Jessiman (6'6", 231 lbs) had 10 goals and 29 points in 68 games with Binghamton of the AHL while under contract to the Ottawa Senators this past season. He was originally selected in the first round, 12th overall, by the NY Rangers in the 2003 draft. He is scheduled to become an UFA this summer.

Per this article, it looks like Anton Rodin is close to signing a contract back in Sweden for next year, likely with Brynas. Rodin, 22, had 4 goals and 14 points in 49 games with Chicago of the AHL last year. The former 2nd round pick, 53rd overall of the Canucks in 2009, is scheduled to become a RFA this summer.
