Putting people in front of the net and setting screens and knocking in rebounds is just not cool enough for this hipster team.

You are just reading into a bunch of **** you have no idea about. Sometimes two good teams play each other and one of them has to lose.
WOW. A new high, or is it low, for a rosy. My gawd. Wings are embarassing us again. Hawks have panic in their game, hence are making the Wings look better than they are.

20 minutes left. Time for this teams character to come through, if they have any left.

That's the least of our concerns. We don't get enough shots on net for "net presence" to really be much of a factor. First and foremost we need to quit hanging back by the bluline, and move up at least 5-7 to give our shooters more shots at being effective. From there we need quicker movement and far more movement without the puck. We are so easy to defend as we don't move and are very labored in our puck movement. If we have the puck much more than 2 seconds without moving with it we need to pass it on and continue the cycle. Get the defense moving to open up passing lanes and look for more one timers. Seriously, how many PPs in a row can we run without a legimate one timer? Most of the time we receive a pass, settle it, and wait for the defender to get in prime blocking position before launching a shot.

Net presence will only make a difference if we get more shots on net. Screening only works if there is something to screen. Rebounds only occur if/when shots get on net.

Being saying that for 3 years now, the PP needs to get basic, a man in front, like Buff and Kopecky used to do, shots when the lanes are open, less passing, more shots and more crashing of the net.

The team tries to make to the amazing happen or takes unscreened shots from the point that won't beat any goalie.

Get simple, basic and dirty.

This is what happens with a finesss team that has a coach that doesn't do **** about the lack of dirtiness. They have to get some greasy goals.

Hawks were better in the first, Wings were better in the 2nd.

Hawks could use a faceoff win once in a while, though. That's hurting them really badly.

What is there to screen? Most of the time our shots are being blocked at the point of attack or they are zinging off the glass. Those things can't happen until we change our approach to get shots on net. If and when we do that I'm all for increasing net presence.

We need someone to do their best impression of playoff Byfuglien.

Also, can we get "Shinpad" Keith off the PP? Isn't enough, enough? Leddy is a stud. Let him carry the mail and take better shots once they inevitably lose the draw and have to get the cleared pucks.

PP has been a thorn in their side. They cant enter the zone without Kane or Leddy carrying he puck because they can't win a board battles when they dump the puck in. They r expecting Toews to win face offs win board battles and crash the net on the PP.

66% to 33% right now. Yeah, I would say it is a major issue.

We have mostly below average shooters when it comes to point shots. When you have below average shooters you need to collapse your PP to give your pointmen a chance to be effective. When we have 2-3 guys lingering by the blue line on most PP plays, we will not be effective. Having screeners doesn't do anything when shots aren't getting on net. And when they are they are usually of the weak ass variety.

I don't think they have the personnel to play a consistently dirty/greasy game.

Just got back from a bar. Is there any "Clearing the Defensive Zone for Dummies" books we could possibly read?

Doesn't matter if you can't score on Detroit's awful defensive corps.

Yep. This is another indictment of how clueless Q is. Leddy has been an obviously better offensive threat for 2 years now. IMO he is the MOST important person we can have on PP1. He's an ace at carrying pucks in the zone, and has great presence in the o-zone.
