Hammer is actually a very good defenseman in transition when he's on, and he supports the offense well in the zone. Garrison has the big shot, but he needs someone to set him up for it, and can't do everything else as well offensively.
This, it's Hamhuis and it's not even really all that close.

Are people finally figuring out that Hamhuis is better than Edler?

No love for Ballard?

Non-Canucks fan saying Hamhuis but Garrison is a very close second.

The Hamhuis/Garrison pairing was by far the Nucks' best against the Sharks, don't know why AV didn't split them up to spread the wealth a bit. That being said I still think Hamhuis > Garrison.

Haha, no kidding? Well to be fair, I remember asking the same question of Predators fans when they had the Suter/Weber pairing, and they said that it just didn't work as well.

That's odd considering he's top 5 in goals for among dmen over the last 2 years...

This season, Garrison was the teams best defenseman. Hamhuis had an off year and was probably battling injury. The last couple years however Hamhuis was the teams best dman IMO.

IMO it's a pick 'em between Hamhuis and Garrison. Both are ridiculously good defensively, Garrison brings the big shot and goalscoring ability, whereas Hamhuis is a much better skater and moves the puck quicker.

Edler and Bieksa are #3 and #4 respectively. Both have played exceptionally well at times but can also singlehandedly lose games with their erratic play.

Not splitting up Garrison and Hamhuis to bring some stability to the Canucks blueline was an absurd oversight by the coaching staff and will be one of the biggest reasons they will be looking for new jobs in a week or 2.
