Why is Q so in love with Handzus?

Handzus is the worst forward on the ice. The fact that he gets to play most of his time 2nd line C with Kane and Sharp is amazing. He is too slow to play with those guys. Q must think its 1999 or something and he is coaching him in St. Louis. Even when the Hawks pull the goalie last night the extra attacker was.....Handzus. Amazing. What is the obsession?

Q loves vets. He holds them to almost no standard, like Brunette and Co. last year.

Handzus is 2C so Shaw and Bolland can remain in shut down roles. Zues isn't the pest Bolland/Shaw are. That said, he's looked old in the second round. He was fine since TDL most games.

Because he's old and slow and Q really seems to like that type of player

He need to sit...and decide where he might want to play next year. I sure as hell know it won't be here.

Handzus looked damn solid down the stretch and in the first round. It's only over the past 2 games that anyone's complaining about him. He's not the perfect 2nd line centre, but he brings a size and board play element that the Sharp/Kane line hasn't had all year and they were having success as a line for most of the time Handzus' been on it.

Personally, I'd make the lines:

Saad - Toews - Kane
Sharp - Handzus - Hossa
Bickell - Bolland - Stalberg
Shaw - Kruger - Frolik

PP:

Bickell - Toews - Kane
Bolland - Leddy

Saad - Handzus - Hossa
Sharp - Keith

I don't understand why Q's loaded up the top line and PP units. It goes against everything that's led to success for Chicago this year. The PPs were also at their best when the PP units resembled those. Bolland looked great on the point, prior to his injury at the end of the regular season.

Is anyone else absolutely shocked at the very, very least by him playing on the 2nd line? Like wtf?

Because he's better there than Kruger.

If you want to ask about Q and the 2C position though, really what you should be asking yourself is why Sharpie isn't there.

Zeus NEEDS to be sat and Smith taking his place ASAP, he is way too slow for this series. Bobcock sat Bertuzzi after game one for that reason, we need to follow suit and ice the fastest team because this series is not much about hitting and all about speed. I am sure Smith will be hungry and I see him getting a goal. Saad and Toews need to show up, I think both have been MIA and Hossa is the only noticeable one in that line although Toews did show up a bit more game 3. This team needs to weather the storm of Detroit the first two periods and steam roll them in period 3, they seem to get really tired and lose their legs, it was all Hawks period 3 minus goal from Datsyuk.

Handzus needs to be benched for the remainder of the 2013 NHL Playoffs.

He started him on the 4th line but was moved up throughout the game and was the extra attacker when the goalie was pulled. He brings NOTHING other than faceoffs. NOTHING.

We should use Ben Smith as our #2C?

It's too bad we don't have a solid scoring center in the minors. Somebody that could lead the AHL in scoring would look good on the second line.

That's true! Bolly had that 1 PP goal in January, he was on fire.

really? haven't noticed that being a Hawks Fan watching ALL the games knowing that Q will shuffle his lines a bit if needed and in game 3 it was needed big time.

Q is not in love with Handzus, please worry about your 1st round sweep team before and start threads about AV should get fired

Handsuz is Johnny Oduya all over again. He comes over and plays great for 5 games and people fall in love with him, then he disappears in the playoffs and people want his head.

At least Oduya isn't old enough to slow down and has been pretty solid. I think he's done a great job in the playoffs and has been hindered by Rozsival's snail-like play these last few games. He had a rough one last year, though.

I am a Blackhawks fan, ignore the dumb avatar. Wake up, Handzus sucks and Quennville loves him. He sucks, and the Hawks are toast now. I am more pissed about it then anyone. Glad I had to put up an avatar to have someone blinded by a real opinion.

It's a shame we don't have a guy like Patrick Sharp from the 2010 team to play #2C. Wait, what?

The question is, who else shall he love? Bolland is faster, but irresponsible defensively. Handzus is best +/- center as the 2nd line while he is on it. He is good at draws and is very little penalized.

Bickell scored goal that was all about Handzus and everyone wants Bickell for president. He is not Gretzky. He is slow, but still get his job done.

Bolland has been one of the best shutdown centers for years, he is anything but irresponsible defensively. He isn't good at draws and he lets his emotions get the best of him at times but he is a very good defensive player.

bowman is to blame for bringing these types of guys in...he should know they'll end up being used inappropriately.
