Jacob Trouba for me. He is physical, steady and excellent in the own zone has good offensive upside. Complete package with good upside.

Trouba and Rielly have separated themselves from the rest.

Trouba or Murray. Really tought to decide. Murray missed most of the season injured and Trouba was great in College and in Tournaments. Guess I would take Trouba, but if he would not have been injured it probably would be Murray.

Hard to leave Murray out since he's been injured most of the season. He looked really good in his short stint. I guess injuries are apart of the game though.

Trouba and Rielly have impressed me quite a bit more than Reinhart and Dumba. I have not seen enough of Lindholm to include him.

At this point I'd probably say Trouba. Has the full package.

But it's really hard to say, we'll need another few years. Think about how much the Doughty, Pietrangelo, Bogosian, Karlsson, Carlson, Gardiner, Voynov, Myers, MDZ, etc rankings have changed every year since 2008 when they were drafted. We're only JUST starting to get a decent understanding of which ones are the top pairing/franchise guys and which ones aren't, and even then, we could use another couple of years.

I'd hardly say real good. His offense is still well below his peer group (2 goals in 23 games). Bringing his numbers out over a 68 game schedule are a very lacklustre 45 points.

Trouba looks like a beast on both ends of the ice.

Considering I really thought Burke was going to take Trouba and didn't really even think about Reilly at all, it came as a bit of a shock. Shocked enough I didn't really like the pick at the time. Between the two however in the past year, Trouba all the way. I really like Reilly though and I believe he was fine at the #5 pick, because Trouba should have went before that. Who knows though. As with Murray, we won't know what is what until they play a few more years and make up for the lost time

Yeah, still a tough call to make. Going to take a while to see how it all shakes out. Trouba has impressed though so should be in that conversation.

Just going to be interesting. Murray missing time so easy to forget about him. Have Rielly making up for that time missed due to injury during his draft year. Some definitely good d-men picked in that early portion of the 2012 draf.

Trouba looks sooo good, Rielly has come as advertised and Murray still has his history and draft pedigree.

I would be fine with any of those 3 but if I had a choice, I would go with Trouba.

Trouba and Rielly had monster seasons. Trouba had a season unheard of for rookie defensemen in the NCAA, and Rielly was Moose Jaw's offense.

It's really a shame we didn't get to see more of Murray.

The consensus as everyone else, Jacob Trouba. Still don't know how he slid to 9th but he is going to be an absolute stud for the Jets. They have got to be thrilled to have landed him. He's the kind of player I think the Jets should build around.

I'm sure they were ecstatic to get him at 9. They reportedly had him ranked 4th for the whole draft

Murray's still somebody who I wouldn't want to judge based off of stats. Everett hasn't had much forward talent during Murray's time there. Even going into last year's draft, I think most people would have conceded that Rielly had greater offensive upside, but that Murray was more dependable in his own end.

Probably a bit unfair to re-rank them this soon since it's more a reflection on who had the better year and Murray's season was incomplete.

----------

I watched Michigan whenever I could (and even took a trip out there back in November) so I could watch Devils' prospect Jon Merrill. Trouba was a beast and you couldn't help but notice him every game. Although I think there's still a little refinement before the NHL.....which could be said of any 19 year old defender.

Not being a homer but for me it's really between rielly, trouba and Murray.

Murray's defense is simply amazing and positioning is a big part of that

Rielly's offense is on another level.

Trouba has a nice mixture of offense and defense

It's seems like what might have held Trouba down a bit on draft day was that he was described as a big physical shut down defensman with O "potential". Not sure how many expected him to be so complete so quickly. The offensive side of his game was on full display in Michigan, at the WJC, and 4 on 4 in OT at the WHC against the Fins.....Jacob appears to be the total package. He also looks really calm and confident and no situation seems too big for him yet.
