Peaking too early, faceoffs, lack of physical play, the things that were mocked ad nauseum all year are the things that are dragging the team down. There's no vidication either. Just ****ing turn this **** around somehow.

are you guys new to hockey??

Howard has BIG skates to fill in Detroit, where it is HockeyTown, large legacy of cup winners.
Howard was schooled twice this year, once by the Blackhawks, once by Kane.

Howard has the pressure on him.

Crawfish has the pressure of finding his stick everygame i guess since he seems to lose it all time.

"Gurth", makes me wonder if you even know who Big Al is.

I still believe the Hawks dont have the confidence playing in front of Crawfish, i.e. all the blocked shots all the time.
No confidence in the Crawfish, makes for bad hockey.

I say all the pressure is on Howard, not the crawfish.

Shot blocking is a big part of the game. Every single successful team blocks as many shots as they can. Shot blocking has nothing to do with a teams "faith" in their goaltender.

Crow hasn't stolen any games but he's done what he needs to do. Give the team a chance to win. The rest of the squad, most notably the top 6 need to start doing their part and scoring some goals.

There is zero pressure on the Wings or Howard. Nothing to lose there. They limped into the post season and have scrapped their way into the second round. They have already accomplished more than anyone expected of them.

The one on the hot seat here should be Q.

This team kicked ass the entire season and rolled over the Wild in 5 games with the only loss coming in OT.

WTF is he doing getting inside his teams head after that? What kind of moron starts ****ing with his players psyche when they have nothing but momentum behind them?

VS worked hard last night but his play reminded me of how he looked when he first got here. He looked scared to make a mistake. He hasn't looked that way all season but now he's playing scared again.

There are a lot of other players that are playing scared out there too. It's hard to play confident when you don't trust your coach.

This seems to be a real eye opener for the Hawks against the Wings in the playoffs. We never faced them in the playoffs in 2010 cuz the Sharks beat them and if the Ducks had beat the Wings we'd be facing the Sharks again. How has San Jose beaten the Wings twice in two straight years and Nashville beat them in 5 last year.

This is the weakest version this year of those Wings teams and this is a record breaking Hawks team and were having so much trouble. I guess we know how Canuck fans feel when the Hawks play them in the playoffs. We might need some game 7 OT heroics to win this series as well.

The Stalberg situation was bizarre but at the end of the day, these guys show up, play and get what they deserve. I'm glad they had a meeting as opposed to practice. I hope it was an open forum for anyone to say anything they had to say and not Q dictating. They need to look each other in the eye, put everything out in the open, clear the air, and focus on a gameplan together to get this thing done.

Frolik kinda represents the team well. Makes a good amount of nice plays and generates chances, but can never finish- whether he JUST misses completing a pass, or doesn't make a very good shot on a great scoring opportunity. He's like the team personified.

Not sure if this has been said or not but it is time to put Sharp at center with Kane and Stalberg. He might not want to play center but he would give us the best chance to win. Stalberg might not be the best hockey player but he creates a lot of space and is willing to crash the net which is what Kane and Sharp need. You are damn right Kane looks frustrated out there because he has nothing to work with when Bolland/Handzus are out there the Wings can just pressure the **** out of him. I would even be ok with putting Stalberg with Toews and Hossa then moving Saad with Kane and Sharp. Thoughts?

So due to work I've missed most of games 2 and 3.... but it sounds like a combo of
Howard standing on his head, and our guys not giving it their all. And of course the PP.

More or less the case?

Howard has NOT stood on his head. The DRW has clogged the middle similar to PHX and the Hawks are one and done.

A tall order when we can only score 1 goal the last two games and have loads of breakdowns in front of him. Crawford has been fine.

And I repeat, Wings 4th line scored the all important 3rd goal last night. Wings are playing the team game far better than we are and the bottom 6 are the biggest difference.
numbers say you are wrong

Bottom 6 is not big difference and what seperates them from us. When will people finally blame the players that have to be blamed for the last 2 games?

Right, benching 4th liners who play great on the PK will solve everything for us and Toews will magically start playing better without the frustration or Sharp will magically hit the net with his shots instead of shooting the puck right into Howards chest. Let alone Hossa and Saad who do not put up points. Then there is Kaner who at least tries and had some little success. Our 3rd line does nothing. Yes, they contribute nothing to the results. They don't shut down one of the Wings scoring line and they don't help the team with scoring timely goals.

But I agree, when we finally get rid of role players who do their job like Krüger or Frolik our team will be fine. Bring in Bollig or Carcillo or Smith for them or Handzus will scare the Wings to depth that they will start to allow our Top players to score the way they want.

I know I talk about Toews and he gets the benefit of the doubt but he plays like **** so far. Talk about a Point per game player making 6+ million. THAT is pathetic.... but but he shows effort and works hard. **** that, he has to score and if he won't start soon our season will end in a failure sooner than expected. (and nobody would ever think about trading him, thats for sure. Neither would I)

yeah, I forgot we have to blame Q too. something something fire Quenneville. It's totally his fault that we don't score goals especially on the PP. At least we can be happy that the PK works.

Now, and really now, I have the first doubts of this team going to the finals.

Effort has to get better, team play has to get better, thinking the game has to get better and controlling your emotions has to get better and Frolik or Krüger are least of our problems.

Sometimes we need a goalie to be > fine on occasion. To stop the odd breakaway. Not EXPECT to let those in but stop them and bail his team out. That is what he needs to do one game. That is what wins Cups......not just fine or OK.

I'm more concerned as to why our best players have gone cold the last two games. One of the goals he made 2 stops on and no one could clear it out. I'm sure he could steal one game if we stop turning the puck over again and again. He has made several big saves but we knew going into this that Crawford wouldn't steal many games.

All I can say is, sometimes the top 6, for whatever reason, will not be your leaders offensively and the team needs to fight through it. If they do fight through it, good things will happen. We see it virtually every playoff, where an unsung bottom six guy or bottom 6 line come up big and provide more, take up the slack until the team rights itself. This can be by playing aggressive, by scoring big goals, by doing something extraordinary. The line of 29-65-25 were doing that in the first series and it got us through. Q screwed that up ... and even though they are reunited, the team can't expect the same against Wings. Can we expect anything like that from Kruger and Frolik? Not a chance. Wings bottom 6 have responded to the PO challenge. Unfortunately our supposed deep team, can't match it. So Babcock's strategy of stifling the first line by harassing Toews and playing physical against the rest is working to perfection.

We need a shake-up, in the form of a Jeremy Morin, or possibly a Ben Smith(or both) to instill some real grit into the 4th line. As many of us have been harping on all season long, the current line-up is too weak physically and in intensity. I must admit, I didn't think Wings would expose that in us but they are, and I doubt Wings strategy will change.

howard its just making a lot of routine saves. hes playing well, but hardly stealing the games. almost no net presence, a ton of outside shots, aka the usual. then two of the 3good chances we had around howard went off the post with kane scoring on a break.

Not really. Net presence is lacking and the Blackhawks are shooting way too many pucks to Howard's glove hand.

You're all over the map.

There are more than a few posters here who have argued vehemently that the bottom 6 need only play well defensively. It is the top 6 that need to score. That doesn't always work, especially in the playoffs.

Wings and Hawks

As someone said, Detroit has nothing to lose coming into the playoffs and knocking off Anaheim already amounts to a successful playoff. The last 2 games they are playing loose and they skate and move the puck faster than the Hawks. They enter the zone WAY too easy too. The Hawks PP is too slow and calculating. Very few one timers and they are usually from poor angles. Detroit rushes the points and doesn't seem concerned about the puck going down low. Their D have enough size to neutralize the Hawks in front of the net. The Hawks have to play faster with less predictability, more desperation in front of the net, and take a few runs at players like Shaw and Hammer did. If they don't know what's coming, they'll have to think about it and that causes hesitation. They played better in the game 3, 40 shots, a few cross bars, a disallowed goal, but the Hawks need to get more 2nd and 3rd chances like the Wings do. Crash the net!!!!

Worry about what exactly? Surviving, cause that's essentially all they are doing. Sometimes you need the bottom 3 to take some risks, try to make a difference, get in someones face, do something to lift the team, not just survive, and let someone else take the responsibility, then put up their collective hands and state, "I did my job". BS, you did.

I'm done here. If we advance, I'll see y'all then... otherwise enjoy the long summer.

funny that you knock on Froliks and Krügers offense while they provided a combined 4 goals so far. That is more than enough from your 4th line in 8 games.

Their guys score, ours doesn't. This starts with Toews and again all you do is take our problems away to replace a 4th liner with another 4th liner that gets to see the ice for 8 minutes at best.

No team will anything if their Top guys don't produce and our guys don't produce. In the POs you can't be allowed to have a Toews that can't score a goal in 8 games. Only chance would be with an elite goalie that steals games and stops everything.

a 2003 Giggy, a 2011 Thomas or last years Quick and we would lead this series 3-0 with only 2 goals scored in the last 2 games. We know we have Crawford and we know what we get. Difference is that Crawford get 2.66 while guys like that get 5.5+. You get what you pay for.

Again, making excuses for the real problems on the roster. Top 6 right now does nothing and the same can be said for the 3rd line that at least doesn't get scored against.

Like kill off countless penalties?
Like having 4G and 2A in 8 games?

Ya, I'm not worried about our 4th line at all.
I am worried about our top 6 though.
