As the senior member here (yes KSD... I am older than you are)... the team we are rooting for is Detroit.

And the matter is settled.

At least he doesn't have his head in the sand.

Also, no surgeries planned for the offseason. Erat and Laich would have played Game 1 vs BOS. And Ovechkin sent Oates 20 texts, upset about the loss, until 2AM. Maybe Schultz should give Ovechkin a heads up about his message plan. Oates also gave the go-ahead for Ovechkin to go to the World Championships, said he would have stayed if Oates said no.
Is this sarcasm? I hope so. Yeah the reffing, but the rest?

then perhaps consider the sarcasm switch

Sarcasm more often that not, fails on the internets. It's all about facial expression or tone of your voice. Your face is a gif, and your voice is a common font

As George would say, we are not talking about sarcasm. I will not even bring up the word, sarcasm.

/sarcasm

OK, I lied. It's not so much that I hate the as I just like making other people figure it out (or think I'm an idiot).

Use it.

Otherwise it makes the board far too confusing.

No chance.

The way I follow the playoffs after the Caps are eliminated is this:

Root for team playing against Pittsburgh and/or Rangers.

In the west? Root for team playing against decaying city team.

Looks like not much will change this offseason.

Yeah—but Ted is planning twice as much rockin' red confetti for the SE CHAMPS PARTY NIGHT next year.

Alzner-Green (o/u 50 games)
Schultz-Carlson
Erskine-Oleksy

Learn it. Love it.

The only d move I see us making is to trade Orlov, which would be beyond stupid.

I have been saying all along expect Sarge in the mix. A fine showing by Erskine may have pushed him away. I still think he was injured. We were close.

But George has spent 7 years towards his development and to toss it aside to save less than 3M on the cap is not his style. He would be admitting he was wrong to ink him to that ridiculous contract. George thinks that this is his breakout year!

Know it, learn it, live it

You still think so? 55?

I mean we signed Hillen, Erskine and Oleksy in addition to the big 3 and have guys like Orlov waiting in the wings along with salary cap issues potentially.

I strongly suspect we will cut ties with 55 one way or another. He didn't get a sniff of the ice as soon as everyone was healthy and I don't think Oates cares for him at all.

I do think GMGM will loathe to buy him out and not b/c Ted is a tightwad. I think they want to get something in return personally.

I don't expect him on the roster come October.

I'm pretty sure the rules precluding a JFS buy-out were applicable only to accelerated (Redden, Gomez) buyouts. These buy-outs were added in at the last minute after they realized that guys like Gomez and Redden would be sitting home all year due to the potential injury risk. I do not believe there are any restrictions (other than the 2 buyout limit) on the standard compliance buy-outs that start this summer.

He'll be right back riding the pressbox until his contract expires or by some miracle another team is desperate for a $3mil traffic cone. The only thing that gets him back in the lineup is a injury to the top 6 D (which is likely).

Only one year remaining, George's long term project. Why give up now and him become Chara somewhere else. The team failing with him far far away from the lineup helped his cause. I have theorized George when drafting him had visions of Sarge leading us to a Cup in 2017. He was drafted before Green. Yeah I know, the Stars tricked George into thinking they wanted Sarge more than Fristic and George took the bait.

Its only a cap savings of 2.75 if that. Other buyout candidates actually performed well - Chimera and Ward.

Erskine had an ugly playoffs. That bodes well for Sarge no matter how we slice it.

The "can't have enough defensemen theory" never seems to go away.

The only competition for his spot comes from Orlov, who will not be a 7 here. Orlov has to vault 2-3 guys to get a spot, and last I saw seemed relegated to Hershey. All the young D need to play.

I fully expect him to be on our roster, and may even start game 1.

dont judge GMGM by what he says he rarely tells his plan. I think he'll pursue a top 4 defensemen its just to obvious, he'll probably fail but i dont think he'll do nothing.

I'll take that bet! What odds are you giving me for him starting game 1??? I'm all over that! haha

I guess we'll see. I tend to think his time has come to an end.

I don't see any way he leapfrogs Erskine or Hillen. Personally I think he is behind Orlov.

They didn't want Orlov rotting as a 7D and thats why he wasn't called up sooner. IMO at least
