Actually according to sports journalist Matulis it was Artis Ābols who suggested to try out Indrašis to Nolan. Though, of course, Nolan gave him plenty of ice time to prove himself.

Is that just junior or youth teams as well? I'm curious if this would effect the Bauer Selects Latvia teams that come over to the US for tournaments. A number of guys who've played for those teams have ended up moving over to the US to play so I'd imagine this could be an effort to curtail that.

It wouldn't affect Bauer selects at all simply because they are, well, select teams that come together few times a year.

then what about this?

lūgt LHF valdi kategoriski aizliegt dažādu izlašu ("select") kā komandu veidošanu un to startus dažādās sacensībās bez iepriekšējas komandas treneru un spēlētāju sastāva apstiprināšanas valdē.

Well it is under exemptions and it simply states that these select teams will be allowed to exist but their rosters will need to be accepted by the governing body or whatever. Select teams always had that aura of corruption around them anyway so this potential step will either remove it or quite contrary make it even worse, when there will be need for some more paperwork in order to play for such teams.

I'm all for such Bauer (or similar) tournaments when our hockey federation is unable to form a proper U16 national team anyway. The "real deal" talant at that age needs a real eye opener to see how hockey looks outside our borders.

Also to think that Prizma's school products nowadays are important for our hockey is stupid. MHL B, LV league or NHL - the fact is they plain suck when all things are considered. Just because Miluns pull them by their hair towards our U NT doesn't make them any better than they really are. And Liepaja by the looks of it won't have a pot to piss in so no foreign leagues rule won't affect them at all.

It looks like Dinamo system is immune to these rules anyway, so will see what happens with their kids rosters in St.Petersburg championships.
