I'd be disappointed if we took Horvat considering at least one(probably multiple) of Jones, Drouin, MacKinnon, Lindholm, Barkov, Nurse, Nichushkin, Ristolainen, Zadorov, Monahan, or Shinkaruk will be available.

The kid had a bad game. The whole team was terrible. I'm certainly not going to hold one game against him.

Pronman was talkin about Zadorov on twitter and was saying how pretty much all of the postseason he has struggled. Some were eluding he might be hurt but no one knows.

I wouldn't say the whole post season. The first two rounds of the OHL playoffs, he was the Knights best defenseman. I'd say it was around game five against Plymouth that Zadorov began to struggle. That was the game in which he rocked Tom Wilson with one of the hardest checks I've seen and then followed it up by having a fight with Mitch Heard. Part of me thinks it has to do with the season and that he's exhausted from playing so much. Part of me also thinks that there might be an injury. That seems to be the point where his play tailed off a bit.

For the hit and the fight, it can be viewed at the following link:

Thanks for the video link.

Heard should have fought his own defensemen for that terrible pass to Wilson.

Think it may have been game 1 or 2 that he took a check along the boards from a forechecker and looked like he was laboring a bit getting off the ice. It's been about then since hes looked sub par, but it's probably a combo of the two. If I get a chance, I'll try to make a video for it

I hadn't seen much (ok, anything other than highlights) of Zadorov before the OHL finals and Memorial Cup.

He hasn't stood out--but I take those who are saying that he's just struggling / injured right now at their word.

Still, I can't help but wonder whether he might not slip down a bit further because of his late season struggles. Some teams weren't wild about him to begin with (thus the reason he slipped on Bobby Mac's collated rankings), and I'm not sure he's seen his stock improve late season.

This is one of those things that got tossed around in the early 00's and the legend has lived on to today like Detroit drafts a star player in the late rounds every year.

They haven't drafted a good player since Franzen in 2004, though he was a great pick in the third round. Since then the best player they've drafted may be Brendan Smith in '07 who looks like he could be a 2nd pairing defenseman but he's 24 and hasn't proven much yet. Tomas Tatar was taken in 2009 and put up good numbers in the AHL last year and looks like he could potentially be a 2nd liner in the NHL but that may even be a stretch.

They havent had too many first rounders but the ones that they have picked haven't been special. Riley Sheahan in 2010, Thomas McCollum in 2008, Brendan Smith in 2007, Jakub Kindl in 2005.

Don't forget Gustav Nyquist who has been awesome in these playoffs for Detroit. He actually reminds me of Datsyuk, it's scary. He was drafted in the 4th round in 2008

Corey Pronman ‏@coreypronman 10m
Valeri Nichushkin tells RSport.ru he has decided to transfer to North America. Dynamo in the KHL have no issues terminating his contract.

Nichuskin probably jumped back into the guaranteed top 5 again

Even if he drops, the Flyers MUST draft him. Even if someone like Nurse gets to us, I think Nichuskin would be worth it.

There's been rumors that TB has him at the top of their board and they have the 3rd spot IIRC. I don't think he gets out of the top 5 now but would still love for him to slip to us at 11

I'm kind of shocked they would willingly terminate his contract like that. I figured there would be more of a fight than that.

Maybe they know the kind of talent he is and they don't want to keep him back?

I highly doubt that's the case. The KHL and their teams don't like losing high end prospects to NA. He must not be worth the headache if they are giving in this easy.

From who? He hasn't been drafted yet. I doubt Nichushkin has that kind of coin to buy himself out.

Maybe he wants to come to NA more than originally thought at first.

Why would the organization that owns his KHL rights fight him if he really wants to go NA? They risk pissing him off considerably so if he fails off the bat he might pick another team upon his return to Russia. They also risk not only losing him immediately but down the road as well should he choose to go back to the KHL for a few years before his retirement.

If he's really serious, he could just bail anyway and possibly not be available for international competition.

If they were going to lose him anyway, why create bad blood and animosity over 2-3 years of an 18-20-year-old.
