doesn't seem worth its own topic since its minor news that is expected.

Danny Taylor is headed overseas to Farjestad on a 2 year contract.

Good luck to him! Hope Loob serves him well.

Congrats to him he played some of his best hockey for us, I am happy for him he got to play a couple games in the nhl too. I wonder if this means the loser between (Macdonald and Berra) and Brossoit will be the goalies on the Heat or if Ortio will come back and Brossoit will start in the ECHL.

Ben Walter has also signed overseas. Signed for 2 years with Orebro of the SEL.

I like Water quite a bit and feel he should have been given a chance during all the injuries, so I am not shocked he looked elsewhere. I also think he was not going to be offered a contract by the organization as Ben Street is a pretty comparable player and with the addition of Markus Granlund and the potential of Max Reinhart being in the AHL still there just wouldn't be room for him down the middle. Although he was capable of playing RW too where we are very weak organizationally.

The area this hurts the Heat the most is in the leadership area.

Looks like the Heat aren't going Utica at all.

Quote:
The Vancouver Canucks announced Friday morning their new American Hockey League team will be the Utica Comets, based in Utica, New York.

Located in Oneida County (within the heart of the Mohawk Valley), the city of Utica is within 500 miles of 17 of the top 50 US markets, according to the city’s official website, but more importantly to Laurence Gilman, Canucks VP of hockey operations & assistant GM, it’s within shouting distance of many AHL teams, making travel a breeze.

^ Did the Flames ever own Sylvester during his tenure with the Heat?

nope, just an AHL deal but appeared to be a favorite of Ward's.

Did anyone see Steven Seigo's playing last season? He's coming to Finland to TPS (my fav team, Kipper's youth team etc.) and he's got tryout deal with them. Just want to hear something about his playing style...

Abbortsford brought in a new trainer

http://centralhockeyleague.com/news/?article_id=9861

Quote:
Earlier, this year the Toronto native received top honors, being voted the league’s top athletic trainer for the 2012-13 season and was the runner-up earning a nomination and finishing second during the 2011-12 season.

I am really happy that a few of these career minor leaguers are leaving the Heat, since Ward likes to play them more than our prospects and such. I'd like to see our prospects be more of the main guys on the team. I don't mind if it leads the Heat to do poorly, because our prospects need the roles and time to learn to develop properly, we don't need the Kolano's of the world getting that time

Completely agree. I could understand if the NHL team did not own the AHL but I believe Calgary owns Abbotsford. Maybe they figure they need to do whatever to win to bring in fans...

Well keep in mind for a few years the Flames haven't had those over 20 prospects capable of playing a full time role even at the AHL level.

Losing the career AHLers is more to do with stocking the cupboards with actual talent than simply giving away opportunities to young players.

Abby hires assistant coach.

http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2...sistant-coach/

Hopefully this answers our questions and concerns:

Quote:
“In light of our commitment to rebuilding, and providing our young players with a chance to play, there is even greater importance being placed on development and getting our prospects ready to contribute as quickly as possible in Calgary,” said Flames general manager Jay Feaster in a release.

Not really AHL but I saw that Anaheim affiliated with Utah so now the Grizzlies will be affiliated with Norfolk, Abbotsford, Anaheim and Calgary. Will this effect anything drastically?
