Report: Voracek not injured after crashing Ferrari in Kladno

From Holmgren: “I spoke with Jake this morning. He was involved in a car accident in the Czech Republic. Although his car did suffer damage, there were no injuries. Jake is fine.”

Jakub Voracek escaped potentially fatal injuries on Wednesday after crashing his blue Ferrari California in the Czech Republic.

“All good,” Voracek told CSNPhilly.com in a text. “No injuries, no alcohol.”

Photos on the Czech website sport.cz show the Ferrari’s front end is badly damaged on both sides of the vehicle.

“I spoke with Jake this morning,” Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said in a statement.

“He was involved in a car accident in the Czech Republic. Although his car did suffer damage, there were no injuries. Jake is fine.”

According to a report from Sport.cz, Flyers winger Jake Voracek was not injured when he crashed his Ferrari into a truck in his hometown of Kladno, Czech Republic at 11:30 a.m. Kladno time.

Pictures of the car on Sport.cz’s website sure make it look like Voracek, 23, was lucky to walk away from the accident with no injuries, if that is indeed the case.

According to a Google translation of the report, Voracek was speeding down the road when a truck coming from the opposite direction slowed down to turn left.

“(Voracek) failed to comply with safe distance from the vehicle ahead,” Kladno police spokeswoman Michaela Novakova told Sport.cz.

I used Google translate for the article and I believe that alcohol was not a factor (the translation is pretty bad). I think both drivers were tested for alcohol at the scene. Speed appears to be the sole factor for the accident, as Voracek was moving too fast to stop before hitting the truck.

It's crazy that he escaped injury based on those pics.

Voracek needs to stay stateside......between his mom's cooking and now his driving habits his well-being would be better served!

That is an eerie image, one that generally leads to a greater misfortune.

They are made to heavily crumple on the nose, if you look at the side on pic the damage pretty much stops dead at the start of the reinforced 'tub'.

Still pretty lucky, the way he hit the truck means that if he did not have such an expensive car, or one where the driver sits closer to the nose, it would probably have been worse. Especially since I presume it hit the drivers side from those pics... unless he has a right hand drive... but I doubt it.

Immediately. Especially the similarity between the damage to the cars. Can't believe he escaped with no injuries.

This is why I dont tailgate. "Minimum safe difference" from the vehicle in front of you is determined for a reason.

Jake (and anyone who tailgates) dont be stupid. Stay back.

Europeans are just nutty aggressive drivers but some of it is by necessity...any hesitation and you are assured an accident. I still hate it especially when I'm with my cousins in Italy...

One thing though is that they like to tailgate to pass...sometimes against oncoming traffic. Maybe Jake was trying to overtake the truck...most likely.

The car cam footage on you tube particularly the ones in Russia are crazy.

I love Russian car cams haha. There is one that's pretty cool one tha shows people helping each other out, as opposed to getting out of the car and beating each other with bats like normal.

I thought about Briere's crash after the 2010 playoffs first since I wasn't around as a fan for Lindbergh.

Better the car than him...

Police suggested the damage will run 3 million Czech crowns, or about $150,000.
