If the lightning don't take him and he had vowed to come over, the Canes will take him. But for the same reasons, the lightning would take him.
Everyone says "Drouin will be the perfect replacement for St. Louis", like St. Louis wasn't the top scorer in the entire league last year. I think Tampa would rather put a huge moose on a line with St. Louis and Stamkos and let them dominate for the next 2-3 years. St. Louis hasn't slowed down yet, he's got a few more years.
Jokes aside, I don't see JR screwing this up so badly that we don't get a great prospect with this pick. I'm almost past the point of worrying about which one we get, because it's still so far off and there are so many twists and turns left, but it's a nice season to have actually followed through with the tank.
Well, if he able to start next season, take me off Monahan and give us Nichushkin.
Tlusty // Eric // Semin
Skinner // Jordan // Nichushkin
That would be really solid, let Ruutu anchor the 3rd line.
I could see this, or find another person to put on the second line with Jordan and Nichushkin and reunite Skinner & Ruutu on the third. You find the right partners for each of those lines (2nd line wing via UFA?) and you suddenly have 3 potent lines.
Finally watched some Drouin highlights. Is it just me, or does that kid skate with his head down too much?
He definitely seemed to rely on the dmen playing the puck and not the body. A luxury I don't think he'll have in the NHL.
I think he's going to have a tougher transition than Jeff because of the skinnier frame. I think the concussions distract from Skinner's ability to play a physical game in traffic. Bouncing off people, fighting through bodies, etc... not just dangling around them.
Will be interesting to see if Drouin can adapt to the physical side of the game.
Theodore at 33rd would be awesome for the drafting team. I like his game. Kloos probably could be had a bit later as a second time eligible but I am ridiculously high on him as an offensive player.
And it seems like the Nichushkin train is developing some momentum. I like this.
Yeah I honestly think that ended up just about as good as it could have for me, sans Jones getting to #3 which would have changed my draft strategy entirely.
And yeah, Kloos in the 5th sounds early, but he and Cammarata absolutely destroyed the USHL this year which probably was great exposure for him after what he did in Minnesota last year. Considering I had nothing after the 6th that was probably the best place to make that gamble.
