Yeah, right now I have to agree, none of them address our biggest issue of a 2 way top 4 guy that can kill penalties. I don't know if anyone of them can ever be that guy, maybe Blum, outside chance on Bartley.

Ellis and Blum both do have the age factor to consider, Bartley, however, is actually a year older than Franson. I believe in late bloomers but at one point is a spade a spade. I think Blum is pushing the late bloomer age, like Klein, Bartley might be past it.

You say we cannot keep a guy that is weak defensively but we kept Ellis and Blum, and Bartley isn't really good in his own end, he's just not awful. Even Gill is pretty weak when he has to skate to use the full ice, so anytime he's not on the pk.

I pay attention to defense as it's the position I play and have played for 25+ years. And beyond our top 3, I don't see any real answers on defense right now, and it would be the same if Franson was on our team. He's the offensive version of Gill, strictly a protected es minute guy that can play special teams. We could had used him on the 2nd pp unit, that's about it. I just wish we would have gotten a better return.

I understand the move, but right now, it doesn't look good. I hope it turns around.

Not every move Poile makes is good.

This is just me but I think there was more to Lombardi than meets the eye. Nothing was ever said but it just never felt right.

Right now it's a stretch to think either Blum or Ellis will become actual NHL players.

Let's be honest. Franson right now is better than Blum, Ellis and Bartley. That's why people are upset. We gave up an asset and got nothing in return, it was poor asset management period. I understand why we did it, but it doesn't make it a good move. It was a projection that as of right now, looks off base.
Both Blum and Ellis have put up similar offensive numbers to Franson in their debut seasons .... only to come back the next season and struggle. But, how many times was Franson a scratch in 2011-12? Which team had the better PP in 2011-12? That was then reversed this past regular season. In aggregate, the Preds have a better PP conversion over the past two regular season than the Leafs. For all of the Franson did so much to help their PP, the fact the Leafs are not better on average than the Preds with the man advantage is telling.

I can't grasp how the officials waived off the Hawks apparent second goal considering what Holmstrom and Franzen have done for years. If that was goaltender interference, so was everything the two Wings did in their career.

I agree that should have been a goal but before then the refs were in the Hawks back pocket. So many cross checks and just unnecessary roughing after the whistle (that goes beyond aggressive playoff hockey) and the missed check from behind. Hawks were insanely dirty in this game and got away with most of it imo.

They also missed numerous slashes and crosschecks by the Wings. The two unsportsmanlike calls and one roughing at 13:03 of the first were laughable. There should have been at least three offsetting roughing calls right there.

The refs sucked all night.

Was watching the replays of it and had a major "where's the beef?" moment. Unbelievable.

Hate to have to say it but you have to give the Red Wings credit- knocked out the #2 seed and now have the Hawks down. I still think the Blackhawks will find a way to win the series, but they better win game 4- will be a ton of pressure on them in that one.

Detroit is exhibit A of why any fan who ever says that their team would be better off not making the playoffs in order to avoid "getting killed by the 1 or 2 seed" is crazy. Chicago went 4-0 and was 21 points ahead of Detroit this season, and now look what is happening.

It's the playoffs- ANYTHING can happen

Refs tend to give the Wings way too much leeway in what they can get away with. The Ducks series was similar. Detroit still being allowed to cash in on their reputation of years past.

The Canucks coaching staff let go. Who can they find to replace the AV whine?

Vokoun 5-1. Still best sav % of 2013 playoff goalies at .949 going into this game. Probably not gonna hold after tonight's 3 goals but still happy to see him winning games. Making MAF look bad

Yeah "Not on the Vokoun train but running right behind it"

Had a laugh when they were trying so hard not to predict MAF will be back in at some point (but still majorly hinting at it).

I think Jones said he still expected to see MAF during the Ottawa series during the 1st intermission last night.

that was when Ottawa was actually leading 2-1.

I think now the only way we see MAF on the ice in this series is the handshake line after tomorrows game

Wondering how the Blachawks bandwagon is looking these days. And if the Wings do win the SC (barf). We only have to hear about it twice next year.

as much as I hate the Wings I wouldnt mind a Pittsburgh-Detroit final this time because either Vokoun or Toots would end up with their name on the Cup.

James Neal just made the reigning Norris trophy winner look like a fool...

how bad would it suck to know you're beaten, just wanting the clock to run out, and then a guy gets a hat trick and you have to sit there and wait for the cleanup..

and I had forgotten that Eaton is on the Pens as well...

The 'Koun does it again. 6-1. Let in 2 goals but thought both were caused by major defensive lapses so darn solid game from him

Brad Richards scratched for the second game in a row...I have a hard time seeing a scenario where he isn't bought out this summer, and he's worth a look.
