That's the thing though... they have offensive talent, both along their blueline and up front. I don't know what happened to Torts, but they've become so ****ing boring to watch.

Why do most of these arenas play a lot of great music but we are stuck with some low rent roller rink DJ that plays a 15 year old girls iPod on shuffle?

I really don't see the great offensive talent. They don't have anything that any other team doesn't have besides Lundqvist.

Nash, Richards, and Gaborik are all very talented (Gabby is gone, though). They're not a loaded team, but they have weapons to go with good D. Their offensive anemia is inexplicable.

There's quite a difference between arenas around the NHL. In Boston for example they play a lot of rock and heavy metal which I think is the best fit for hockey. In other places they think electro and/or pop music is the way to go. Gotta wonder on what criteria the teams put their playlists together.

Richards has had a miserable year and playoffs so far and Nash is good but not a one man team. Their defense is solid but not strong enough to carry them. Lundqvist is their only game changer but it's obvious he can't do it on his own. Very boring team.

You have to give him credit he does ride his teams strengths.

Here Marty and Vinny were given absolute free rein.

There its the Lundqvist show. Go with what you have.

(Not disagreeing in the slightest its boring as hell, but just giving him his props, it works)

Yeah, he was a treat to watch. Confident, creative and solid in both zones.

I'm thinking RP is NBC's 'C' pbp guy. 'A' being Mike Emrick and 'B' being Dave Strader.

About damn time. They kept pushing John Forslund and Joe Beninati on us. I don't mind Forslund too much, but Beninati had a ton of critics, myself included.

Great 2OT game last night between Pittsburgh and Ottawa...it is games like this one that sum up what the playoffs are all about. I was on the edge of my seat in those overtimes. First 2OT game of the 2013 playoffs, and it was past due in my opinion.

The Alfredsson SH goal with 28 seconds left was a thing of beauty. He received a great pass and made no mistake. Did anyone stay up and watch the whole game? Anderson and Vokoun were outstanding.

It was great, and the good (in relation) guys won.

Really not impressed with Letang. He is ****ing brutal defensively.

I've noticed Letang's movements forward, such as starting the attack and gaining the zone, much more than I have noticed his defense. His mistakes on defense are noticable.

Did anyone think Chris Phillips had an off night last night? Every time I saw #4 in the play, he was easily passed by or out of position. This isn't to say he isn't good defensively, but I felt he had a poor performance. Defenders have those games though...

Conacher has been his pesky self, and he definitely fits in with the "Pesky Sens" mentality. I'm glad to see that he is playing well, and he isn't stepping down from anyone.

What makes Letang bad is just the flip side of what makes him good. The guy is an offense-minded D man; he is terrific on the breakout, joining the rush, and the PP unit. Under pressure in his own end, not so much.

So the AHL's president tweeted:

Quote:
Is NBC trying not to mention AHL impact in SC Playoffs? Aggravating.
https://twitter.com/ahlpres/statuses/336201860497162240

and the issue is gone into detail in this blog post: http://www.stanleycupofchowder.com/2...wledge-the-ahl

What's being missed is that in football and basketball, the college level is a big deal with people.

Hockey is more like baseball, with emphasis on the minors and international leagues. All niche appeal in the US. NBC knows that. They can possibly make money with NCAA hockey though, given the success of other college sports. It's not the logical step from a hockey perspective, but dolla dolla bills y'all.

Just like how NHL tries to emulate the NBA and NFL, when the MLB is the more applicable model.

MLB players don't get locked out anymore though, and we've seen within the past year that the NHL is more concerned with the percentage of the pie they get than the size of the overall pie.

I've seen every Penguins game this playoff, and I gotta say, Iginla looks like he's done.

Brad Richards says he is not playing tonight. He said Tortorella called him this morning to tell him.

Buyout candidate? I wonder if he'll have a line of teams interested in him this time.
