No not at all. The quality in the top four is apparently much greater than anyone who would be left at 6. Never trade quality for quantity.

That's pretty definitive that there is a deal there. Whether its worth it is another question. What pick is available is another question.
Does this make anyone else a bit nervous?

Man ... Poile better not **** around ... it'd better be a signed Vanek & Tyler Myers with another 8 year contract signed as well ... because aside from that ... **** it

We are going to fudge our chance at a potential franchise center we've could never acquire, and Poile hasn't even drafted one with the caps.

Poile has said the price would be high, but I'm still nervous about this.

Still may not be us. But I doubt it's anyone above us in the draft.

I'm not really nervous by that comment. I think he's more likely talking about the #5 or 6 spot since things get muddy after #4.

I'd highly consider a signed Vanek for #4 though.

Vanek is a great player but how many teams have won a Cup without a stud center? Rather not lose a chance at the guy up the middle we have sorely lacked for years.

I just hope we don't trade our shot at a no.1 center for an injured semi-star (Kesler), a great player without a contract next year(Vanek) or a defenseman(yuck). Be Smart. Draft Barkov.

Exactly this. Wingers are also far easier to acquire than centers, at least when talking about 1st and 2nd line guys. Assuming the #4 isn't a complete and total bust, trading it for a 29 year old winger is very, very short-sighted.

Or, at the very least, be able to acquire a young top 6 center if we're not going to draft him.

Not going to be shocked at all.if the Preds make a move to move back to get a replacement for Erat. Probably going to be his best shot at replacing him with a comparable player.

I wonder if this is what is going down:

To Buf: 4th Overall, Hellberg
to Nsh: 8th overall (Shinkarkuk,Monahan, Lindholm) and Vanek

It seems like just about everyone wants to keep the pick, which makes a lot of sense. How would your thoughts change (if at all) if the draft went:

1. Jones
2. McKinnon
3. Barkov

Would anybody feel differently about trading back to 6 or 7 (or later even) if the top player on the board was Drouin instead of one of the centers?

Depends on what you think about Monahan/Shinkaruk/Lindholm in comparison to Barkov, and whether you think Vanek will re-sign. I don't think Vanek is worth giving up a chance at Barkov, and I would prefer not to be trading more assets in addition to the #4 to acquire him, Ennis, or Hodgson.

I would jump at this deal and hope Lindholm is still there. If not than Monahan would be fine to. No way Buffalo would do it though. If they move Vanek now it will be for a 1st round pikc straight up plus.

I would rather have Vanek/ Ennis/Hodgson/Leino +8th overall even if it means we have to add a few prospects, compared to just giving them the 4th for Vanek

I would do that instantly.

Hellberg has no place here for the next 5 years or so, and we go from Barkov to Shinkarkuk (or Lindholm or Monahan) and they give us Vanek to do it?

Yes, please.

If Buffalo offered Vanek/Ennis/Hodgson with Vanek signed

#4 and Hellberg would be a steal.

I would be elated if that was the deal. A potential elite player and a solid future NHL goalie for a proven 35 to 40 goal point a game player A young center that is better than any we have on the team and another young winger that will pot 20 and have 50 to 60 points while smallish.

This would just be too good to be true.

The hardest thing to work out would be salary the preds in those three would increase the team salary about 14 mil.

I think you misunderstood the offer. It's one of the three buffalo players and the 8th overall for our 4th overall and hellberg.

I think we are undervaluing hellberg. He is not a throw in. He is one of the better goalie prospects in the game right now.

Vanek would have to be signed or known he would sign long term with Preds before i would even consider the deal.

Then it would would be
Vanek and 8th for Nashville 4th.

Then if Lindholm will still be on the board will weigh in.

Unless it's an overpayment i hope the Preds stick with 4th.

Word on da screet is that Richards is available... FO CHEAP!

Would we want to swap 1sts with them in exchange for Richards and maybe also throwing in a prospect like Hellberg and Watson?
