The team's primary logo and colors will remain intact.

The secondary logo is noticeably absent here. I wonder if that means a new one?

Maybe Chad got wind of this and skipped his exit interview because he wasn't consulted for the design phase.

I noticed that as well and was wondering the same thing. They also make no mention of the thirds. So will they only use the new home and away jerseys, or change those and keep the thirds?

Count me in on wanting the tie-strings, too.

Instead of tie strings, I suggest a bow tie.

I'd like to see the flag gone entirely and instead use a modified version of this as the shoulder patch. I'm sure they could make it look cool and besides, there are two after all and our name is ambiguous

I want all of the banding and stripes gone! I hate the black and white arm bands, and hate the entire lower half of the jersey, with the waist bands, especially the "storm flag" band! I want clean and simple!

I say go full country club.

Cravats, pipes and smoking jackets. A Bushwoodian influence.

As only the home and aways are mentioned I'd draw one of two conclusions:

1) The third would remain unchanged (meaning that the secondary logo would also remain unchanged since it's the crest on the thirds)

2) That only homes and aways are being mentioned mean the thirds are being retired. This would be contrary to what Icethetics indicated when they first broke the rumor that we were going to get new jerseys. So I'm of the opinion that the secondary logo likely stays unchanged too.

You know, I joke about Nic Blanchard being Skinner's Big Daddy...who's to say that as we speak Blanchard isn't being fitted for grafting into the diving suit.

Might this be Blanchard's roster photo for next year?

Micheal Smith answered someone's question on twitter about this and stated that the 3rd jersey would remain as it is.

If that's the case, would that then make this Westgarth?

I don't see why keeping the third jersey precludes a new secondary logo on the home and away jerseys. Lots of teams use a completely different scheme on their thirds.

Now that I think about it I don't believe this is going to be a minor change, e.g. removing the piping. If your going to build this up the way the Canes are, you'd better have something major in store.

I'd say it's more than just a piping adjustment. Probably that, plus complete redesign of the striping scheme.

The Hurricanes colors won't chance unless NC State's colors change -- don't see that happening.

The reason the Hurricanes colors changed from the Whalers' green, blue, and white to the current red, white, and black when they moved to North Carolina is because they share the arena with the Wolfpack.

Yes, I'm aware they played in Greensboro the first two years in North Carolina, but everybody knew that was only temporary until RBC/PNC Center was built.

Holy crap, haven't seen you post here in a while.

I wouldn't say that's THE reason, but it definitely has to be a major consideration. The other color schemes of the area and the Whalers old scheme also didn't fit with the team name branding. And as had already been mentioned by a few people earlier in the year in other threads, the Canes in those colors have established a pretty positive brand recognition in their current identity. They won't make a major departure from it.

*A-hemm* Actually, it was first called The Entertainment and Sports Arena (ESA).

But you're absolutely right. That whole building is red/white/black. But hey, those are some pretty powerful team colors.

Fun fact: NC State's color scheme was first pink/blue.

Pens fan coming in peace. Thought I'd throw a design in the ring and see reactions. Is this the kind of thing you want from the new uniform? It looks like they're getting rid of the warning flags.

I personally like the flags on the bottom, I'm just indifferent on the silver.

I would have thought the red and black color scheme would have tied into the fact that hurricane warning flags are, y'know, black on red as much as anything.

This.

Although I'm already setting that bar way too high in my mind, so basically anything short of "the best jerseys in the league" will be a disappointment. I'll try to dial back my expectations before June 4th and hope for the best.
