What? How would you hear the same thing when the situations are totally different? In the detroit game 7 the Sharks had already done what history suggested. The two possible outcomes then were "blow it completely" or "almost blow it."

Right now winning would be "seizing a big opportunity."

Going to need the bottom 6 to get one and Marleau/Couture to bring some offense this game.

Go Sharkatrons!

Looks llike Stoll is still out.

Helene Elliott ‏@helenenothelen 54s

Sutter said Stoll rode the bike for a few minutes yesterday and is supposed to ride again today if he feels good enough. Progress.

I didn't mean a specific type of Game 5 vs. Game 7 scenario, I was referring more to your idea of it being a "sea change" and others stating that this is maybe the "biggest game in Sharks history". Many times before we have thought that individual game and series wins were signs that this team was on its way to bigger things and it's never panned out. I don't mean to be a pessimist (on the contrary I believe we can get to the Finals this year), I'm just trying to hold off the hyperbole a bit until this team gets a little further.

Every year is different regardless of what people like to say. The Sharks never swept anyone either before the Vancouver series. You can't discount anything happening in the playoffs at this point. Every game is a coin flip.

i hope the team keeps the desperation alive, but regardless we can take this to 7 even if we lose this game.

I don't really think there's any hyperbole there, it's a pretty accurate assessment of the situation. This is one of if not the toughest matchups the Sharks have had in the current team era, and they are rising to the task. It's important that they continue to play well AND get rewarded for it, rather than in the past when they were not rewarded for playing well.

Should they prevail tonight, there will be further "most important games in Sharks history" but right now this game is it.

This isn't one of the most important games in Sharks history when you break it down. Game 7's in Detroit and Calgary back in '94 and '95 were big games in franchise history. Game six in Colorado to get to the conference finals for the first time was one. Game 7 against Detroit after letting them get to a winner-take-all game. Game 5 at home against Calgary in the conference finals was their biggest loss in franchise history, I feel. That was their chance to take control of the series to go to the Cup Finals and they blew it. This team has had some big games but in the grand scheme of things, this is just game 5 on the road against what many thought is the better team. It's a big game, no doubt. However, it's just win number three in the series if they get it and it's just series win #2 if they get that. They've been through these plenty of times before.

I actually think that's Jumbo Joe, since Couture was a Sabres fan growing up.

The other kid might be his cousin Scott.

Jumbo would've been 12 when the Sharks were created. That looks a little younger than 12 to me.

Sharks entered the league in 1991, Jumbo was drafted in 1997. There's no way.

Good point. Never mind then.

It could be Logan, I guess. Could also be Burnsie.

Kings defenseman Drew Doughty scoffed at the notion, put forth by Sharks forward TJ Galiardi, that goalie Jonathan Quick engages in “a little embellishment.”

Doughty stood up for his goalie Quick, a spirited defense, and then said the San Jose player is a noted diver. He took issue with the comments and said they went beyond the usual playoff back-and-forth.

“It’s not even playoff talk,” Doughty told The Times after Thursday’s morning skate before Game 5. “It’s just funny to even hear that from a guy who is the biggest diver on their team. Like it’s just ridiculous he can even say that, to be honest.

“But I don’t want to get involved in that stuff. I don’t think you have to watch many (Sharks’ games). You can just watch three of his shifts and you’ll see how many times he dives. There’s been times where even the refs are telling him, just get up, because he’s diving so often.”

I mean, at some point, how obviously similar to current Logan does it have to be for you to believe its him?

I predict that Galiardi will bump quick and they'll take simultaneous swan dives.
