Nor would I. At least there would be a house cleaning done at Hockey Canada, should this happen. My prediction:

1. Sweden
2. USA
3. Finland
4. Russia

Okay. It's been a few months.....anything changing for anybody?

1.Russia
2.Canada
3.Sweden

Obviously I want Team Canada to win and I'm already planning a 7 am party on February 23rd, but I just think this is Russia's year. So much passion and pride on the line for them. Ovechkin with tournament MVP

Crap it hurts to say that

I'd be interested to know if you still feel this way? I think we are going to have a great team, but come up just short. With the lists of players generated on here as well as the confirmed centres picked, do you feel this way still. I think the state of hockey in Canada is just fine and I have faith in HC to pick a great team.

How would Canada not win? They have the most depth in offense and defense and Russia doesn't even compete on D.

I just don't see Russia winning it-even on home ice. Problems I see:

* Meshing the KHL/NHL talent
* An average (being generous) defense
* No bona fide #1 goalie

To me, Sweden should probably be favored. If the goaltending for Canada holds they have a great shot. I also think the U.S. will have a shot as well.

I agree that Canada is probably the strongest on paper team and with great goaltending percentage wise should take this.

But, dont under estimate home ice advantage in a short emotional tournament like this. I just FEEL like this is Russia's year. OVI is going to have a Golden Goal moment which would be awesome for hockey regardless of where your from. Not a scientific answer for me at all.

WE may have thought that last yr. Lu and Price are now on fire and Quick, Howard are injured and Miller is a disaster. and Schneids cant buy a win.

The closer the Olympics, the more I think Russia won't win the gold, mostly because how good the other teams are and how much pressure will be on our players. The only way we win if our top players dominate and our goalies play the games of their lives

Honestly, if we don't win gold but beat Canada in medal round, I'll be happy

1. Canada, whether I truly believe it or not, they're always gonna be first on my prediction list.

2. Sweden, Sweden's defense is pretty stacked, may be the 2nd best group of D and a lot of talent up front, not an all star team like Canada up front, but they got what they need and more.

3. USA, They're up there now on the D depth, just like sweden, they have the best group of goalies, Finland challenges them for that category, not a lot of top tier centres, they everywhere else is.

Russia's D and goalie is why I ranked the other top tier countries above them, maybe the hometown advantage will bring them to the top of the podium. idk.

Anything other than gold for Canada is failure.
The way I see it is it all comes down to our goalies

I dont know man. While I want our team to win gold. As long as we put forth a solid effort I will be happy. If we get beat in the Gold Medal by a team playing better, how can that be a failure. In a short tournament, the "best" team doesn't always win.

1. Sweden

European sized rink, best European team wins.

Russians can't handle the home-ice pressure.
