Radulov turns 27 July 5th. Does that mean he'll still be an RFA or UFA for this upcoming free agency? Long story short, with Roy named new coach of Colorado and Radulov being quoted as he'd "swim across the ocean" to play for Roy, would a 4th round pick for his RFA right's work? (If he still is RFA)
I'm all for sending over a late round pick for Rads rights. If he's gunna come to the NHL it'll be to play for Roy and he'd look absolutely filthy next to Dutchy and Parenteau or Radar and Landeskog. So getting his rights puts the ball in his court to decide if he wants to find a way out of his russian contract to come play for Patrick.
Assets, money, effort, whatever it may be, Radulov will not help this team.
that's just silly. Radulov would be fantastic for this team. What are the two big needs we always mention when the idea of trading one of our C's comes up? A top pairing Dman and a top line winger, with the first overall pick we have a great opportunity to snag that top pairing dman, and Rads would be that top line winger. His game would be perfect for the Landy-Radar line or the Dutchy-Parenteau line and his off ice "issues" have been massively overblown.
Ok. But, on the other hand, he'd likely only cost a late round pick, which has almost no chance of contributing anything to the roster, ever, if it's used to draft a player. Whereas spending it on Radulov's rights has a much, much higher potential payoff. If it doesn't workout, it's not like the Avs really lost anything .
KHL and NHL now respect each others contracts, so unless someone buys out Rads KHL contract which as reported is some ungodly amount of money for three more years he wouldnt be able to come over here even if he wanted to.
