Shoot low and get rebounds. Bickell can get in the dirty areas on the Toews/Kane line. Stop trying to snipe it and passing it around. Don't need pretty plays on the horrible defensive corps the Red Wings have.

we have to find a way to get Howard moving if we aren't going to get to rebounds.

Part of the problem is the obstruction. Teams are getting away with at least twice as much clutching and grabbing than they were in the regular season.

Some may say that's playoff hockey, but I think it's ********. Don't call games completely different in the playoffs vs. the regular season. Because of that the Wings have a distinct advantage.

That's certainly not all the problem...we have not played very well. But on many of our rushes I'm watching the blue line and the amount of blatant obstruction that's occurring is nauseating. I'm pretty confident no player has been as mugged as Toews the entire playoffs. He can't even skate without being held or hooked.

Not just shoot low, shoot period. I'm tired of this team passing up shots close to the net.

Basically that was the same first period as in Game 3.

Good start to the game, keep at em!

Liking the 1st line tonight, Sharp and Hossa have had a couple solid shifts too.

Agreed, and I don't buy the "refs don't to influence the game" BS either. As if putting away the whistles and letting obvious calls go doesn't influence the way the game goes.

I totally agree with you about the ridiculous interference that the Wings get away with. Obvious missed interference half a dozen times a period, at least.

Hopefully the trend of this game mirroring game 3 doesn't continue into the 2nd.

Both teams can do it. Refs don't effect what teams win or lose, they effect how a game is played. The Hawks just don't have the guys or the desire to get dirty the way the Wings have. I loved Bickell crushing Z after his shot, now the rest of the guys need to do more of the same.

That's why you put him on the PP. Not only is he the best dman with the puck in the zone, he's by far the best player on the team at gaining the zone. He can single handedly establish zone entry, which is vital for a team that struggles to even gain zone control on the PP.

Keep moving your feet while applying a butt end to the ear hole and then go down flailing away, the interference will let up.

Fact is sometimes you need someone to step up and use their skill to score a goal. Datsyuk did it in game 3 when the Hawks were pouring it on the Wings and essentially put the game out of reach.

Or start just rushing the net with body after body. If you draw a penalty here or there it may be worth it. That's what they did to Luongo in 2010.

The PP is pretty horrendous. Keep two bodies in front of the net, like Shaw and Bickell. Not only would that help the shots with no traffic, it would keep the passing down.

Shaw isn't going to cut it, but Bickell would be a welcome surprise.

Again, why the **** are #27 and 32 playing so much?? All but one of the DET chances in the period happened when they were on the ice. Leddy is twice the player either of these bums are and should play a lot more. Also, put him with Hammer and re-unite Keith and Seabs.

Oduya is fine because he can skate. Rozi is the problem on that line.

Oduya panics a lot when there is pressure.
