Saving energy. Its hot and muggy out, and when you play games in this weather everything gets soaked even more, and takes more out of you.

Perfect analysis. They made that change after game 2 in Washington and really did a great job slowing down that great PP. but you're right, they haven't changed - the patience that worked against Washington is giving Boston too much space. Another classic example of the coach not adapting well.

Agreed! This series should be tied.

Ironically, it's a result of the coach adapting well earlier...

They're still playing the diamond to key in on Jagr and Seguin. Watch what happens when either of those guys get the puck on the Bruins PP. Two Rangers focused there in an instant.

Right, but the guys playing both points for the Bruins actually shoot the puck. The only one who did for the Caps was Green and the tip of the diamond keyed on him. The adjustment really needs to happen.

Torts Press Conference is hysterical.

He stood up for Richards said he's a great hockey player and he loves him both as a player and a person. "He's a helluva player having a helluva time."

Ends with "So kiss my ass."

Btw, HAmrlik, ugh.

What would this series be with Staal and Stralman and Clowe healthy, and the Boston d healthy and no Krug... I mean God.

As I have said before, he didn't make the decision to sit Richards. It was made for him.

Hamrlik looked fine. He's not mobile, but he's got a good stick and is strong on the puck.

No need to keep Girardi and McDonagh off the ice for more than 35 minutes of the game at this point anyway.

I do like the fact that Tortorella finally addressed the Boston 4th line, which had been running roughshod over the Rangers in the first three games. Putting Haley, Newbury and Dorsett together seemed to neutralize them, and I didn't think they had nearly the impact they did in prior games.

Sadly, no.

If the wrist is properly if not fully healed, then JT Miller should be the one.
He'd give good energy, speed + decent shot.

If not available, still have better options.[/QUOTE]

Agreed. PP also looked a lot better.

Now to start putting more pressure on the Bruins' D. Also needs to address the breakout.

still in a huge hole, but if we can get game 5 this will get really interesting. boston is fatigued, the longer it goes the more that will be a factor.

Tortorella could have used Asham against their 4th line last game, especially in the final minutes when Thornton scored.
Stupid dumb screw up by Torts last game to not put some friction up against that line.
