The Hockey News shows no love for Anze!

Over at THN.com they have an article about the top rookies this year. They mention O'Sullivan but not Kopitar. I figured the article was probably written weeks ago, but it is dated Oct.1/2006!

Kopitar has been one of the best rookies in the preseason and deserves better.

This will be a huge oversight when Kopitar scores 32G-53A-85PTS and wins the Calder.

Holy...!!

While he probably does deserve some mention, those totals are completely unrealistic.

Totally. He'll hit at least 100 points.

At least the Vezina if not the Hart, Pearson, Selke and Adams.

And hey, while we're at it, let's rename it the Kopitar Cup.

I thought it would be called to "Pull a Kopitar" when a player wins the Vezina, Art, Hart, Selke, Pearson, Adams, and Norris all in the same year.

What about if he wins the Campbell and Wales, too?

I say he wins the NL Cy Young, NFC co-defensive player of the week in week 9 and a Pulitzer, but nothing more. Maybe a Gold Glove. He will also Stump the Schwab. And in a more bold prediction, in 2100, he will be posthumously named one of President George WHTRJL Bush IV's 37,206 Points of Light in the 21st Century.

i don't think we should set such high expectations for the 19 y.o.

remember what happened to jokinen? lets just be patient. i think it would do him and the kings alot of good if they start him in manchester for a year or two.

So you don't think by the end of this season, they'll be renamed the Manchester Kopitars, and the emblem they bear is the father, son, and holy ghost?

all this hype for Kopitar, and seems like O'Sullivan is kicked to the curb all of a sudden....what a difference a handful of preseason games make...sometimes, it seems like us forum posting hockey fans can be guilty of such shortsightedness....

Well, I didn't want to suggest they be renamed the Manchester Johnsons, simply because an emblem with a johnson would get me in trouble.

No love for Anze because he's an unknown being the first Slovenian to reach the NHL. He's an unknown from a country new to the NHL. For a huge bunch of the so-called pundits, if a newcomer in the NHL isn't from Canada he's not worth squat. Sorry if that's blunt, but I call it as I see it.

Most of the hockey press has been thumbs down on LA for so long, that it's nothing new. There's nothing I would love more than for this team to be the surprise/spoiler of the the upcoming season.

I heard Anze was the leading candidate for the Looks Like Uncle Fester award.
