Jersey changes/modifications incoming for 2013-2014

Quote:
Reebok lists new home/road set for Canadiens

Hold everything. That's sacrilege, right? Could the Montreal Canadiens really be thinking about altering their classic home and road jerseys in some way? You wouldn't think so, but there they are on Reebok's list.

In all likelihood, the changes won't be significant. If anything, it'll probably be nothing more than to add a lace-up collar like they used to have in the old days. I can't imagine changing any colors or striping — uniform elements that have almost never been touched. Ever.

It's been a long time since the Habs made any real changes to their uniforms. The red shoulder yoke was added to the white jersey in 1941. They went with a blue chest stripe and no shoulder colors for a few years from 1944 to 1947 before going back to the design we know today.

And as for the red jersey, it has remained exactly the same since the start of the NHL in 1917 — back when hockey sweaters were actual sweaters. And for whatever it's worth they had the lace-up collar going from 1941 to 1975. (All that info gathered from NHLUniforms.com, by the way.)
http://www.icethetics.info/blog/2013...atch-2013.html

This can't possibly indicate anything major is coming, right? Would be sacrilege.

I'd totally welcome a vintage 3rd/4th jersey, though.

I'd be stoked, but I just recently bought a new Prust away.

Nothing major. I suspect just lace.

I too would welcome a NEW vintage design jersey as the "throwback" sweater.

Essentially, take a modernish look on some of the older Canadiens jersey versions...

Yup - I miss the centennial season jerseys, so many great ones. I'd welcome the blue original jersey as an alternate.

Barber pole jerseys are going to be both our official home and road jersey.

Yes yes yes.

I also liked the 06-07 Away/former home jersey with Blue stripe and Red Lettering. A variation of that again or a centennial would be bomb.

I really liked their white jersey with the blue line in the middle.

I'd like to see the return of our old alternate jerseys (white/blue stripe).

No to the red lettering! I liked the jerseys, but that **** was impossible to see on TV. Make the numbers white with a thick red border and then I'll be on board.

Maybe they'll go back to solid numbers on the white jerseys like they had in the Winter Classic and the early 90's (with no white outline).
