Yeah the added black makes it look less choppy.

As for the jersey colors that is a different argument that is purely subjective. I don't like the new color palatte. It is bland and lacks any contrast.
Not sure why I'm responding to this because I'm fairly certain you're just trying to be argumentative at this point, but here goes:

How are you not seeing the double standard at work here? Yes, the logo is a failure, in your opinion, but based on the reactions here, there are more than a few Stars fans who rather like it. So whether it is a classic is just as subjective as whether Green/Black/Silver is a good color combination.

Given a few years and a few winning seasons, the new logo/uniform might just become a classic. Or maybe not. But you, as one person, don't get to "call out" Gagliardi for saying that he believes this will become a classic logo/uniform set.

14/f/cali and i luv the logo!!

Just kidding.
I'm not telling you people how old I am.
Even though I may have already.

Anyways, I don't like the D being the main thing in the black design.
The star looks like an afterthought/background thingy.
It should be the other way around.

as a neutral observer, I think it's hideous, you should have just tweaked the star logo you have now, and add tons more green.

I won't argue with that point filmont.

My opinion differs from yours and you are the first person who left it at that.

I'm entitled to my opinion, as is everyone else, and if someone attacks my stance I am goimg to back it up.

Being argumentative isn't a bad thing. It is only bad when someone argues for the sake or arguing by changing their stance at a moment's notice to continue the fight.

My stance hasn't changed. I am merely supporting my opinion, which you are fre to agree, or disagree with.

But as far as calling out Gags, I can do so. You don't have to agree with it but he failed me, individually, as a fan based on his statement.

In all fairness, that's what they did. All they did was remove the little DALLAS STARS lettering from the original logo, and put a D in the middle. That's a tweak is it not?

From what we were being told, they were saying the logo was going to be totally overhauled. The only overhaul is the shoulder patch. The main logo is still there.

I'm glad the old vibe is gone. They won the cup 14 years ago. Time to move on.

Just to see how it fits/doesn't fit with logos past.

Not talking about a vibe. I'm talking about the original shape of the star. I guess you either see it or you don't.

Edit: Like tjc and Sauron, I'm 21 and have no problem with the logo. I'm also glad it's deviating from the past a little bit. Could care less about the Minnesota days.

34, fan of the team since I was about 6, and Im not upset at the symbol. I didnt want to change it in the first place but since it "had to happen", we made out okay compared to some of the other D-star mocks Ive seen floating around. I think so far we're on the positive side of the fence. Im waiting to see what it all looks like together. I think its good enough so far that it grows on us. Most of us anyways.

Edit: Ill add that I wanted something North Star-esque. A take from one of our first couple sets. Ive handled lots of change over the years obviously and going by the symbol and what I know about the jerseys Im not exactly having the heart attack I was afraid of when a lot of other ideas were being thrown around.

It seems like the majority of people hating on this logo are fans of other teams or they are first time fans posting their thoughts. I can see how some would say the design is amateurish, but I think we need to wait until they unveil the full jersey on June 4th to be super critical of it. For the majority of us diehard Dallas fans this will be an upgrade, and I'm just pleased to have a completely new look to the franchise next year.

This off-season:
New GM
New Coach
New Jerseys
Cap space to sign 1 or 2 impact players
Chiasson + Dillon's development
Benn back at wing??
Ribs back

Edit: I'm 20 and love the logo. Also glad we deviated significantly from our past logo. It's a new era.

I guess I dont consider having a slanted star with everything else being different to be a tweak.

Definitely understandable. Though the star was already slanted, or are you talking about the addition of the 2nd star?

To everyone mad about the beveling- the jets have a beveled logo too, and it looks fantastic.

I am 33 and have been a fan since I was 14, when we first moved to Texas, and I agree with most of what you say.

Hopefully they tweak it sooner than later.

im saying the only thing that wasnt changed is that there is a star and its slanted. Its lost its gold, its lost its green, and its missing a big chunk in the middle.

I'm not mad that it is beveled. I am mad that it is beveled badly.

And to be fair, I see your complaint and where youre coming from. Im looking at everything together and making like its all just a spinoff from the North Stars. Yeah theres some changes, but hey even the North Stars did something that was considered drastic by adding black back in the 80s. Things change - more of this, less of that, different shades, etc. This is just in line with that - is what Im telling myself anyways. I think overall we'll be okay and I cant wait to see em. At the very least theyre sure to be much better than the set we've been groaning about for 5 years.

I think he backed up his statement. The logo is pretty simple, bring back the Star, and returns a focus to green, which clearly resonates with fans.

When you look at other logos around the league, this one isn't flashy. It's not a cartoon character holding a hockey stick. It's a star and a D. Pretty simple.

If you don't like it, fine, but to say that Gaglardi didn't do what he promised is wrong.

We can agree to disagree as we circle back to subjectivity. In my mind he failed as every change feels like nothing more than a half measure.
