Rangers Playoff Run Coverage in NY Market

Just curious, how big a story has the Rangers run been?
To me, it seems the Knicks were the bigger deal, largely because they were a 50+ win team.
That said it seems the Rangers got more than their fair share, and they plus the Knicks definitely pushed the Yankees and baseball to the back burner.

I'd say this spring it was:
1. Knicks
1A. Rangers
2. Yankees
3. Mets

Is that accurate?
To me it almost is amazing because in the last decade the Yankees have been the main attraction, baseball has, from the start.
It was unheard of to have the Yankees not being front and center, but taking a back seat to basketball and hockey.

That's not accurate at all.

1. Knicks
2. Yankees
3. Mets
4. Rangers

He was asking about the Spring, in which no one is talking about the Jets or Giants.

And I have no idea how you have the Islanders on top of the Rangers. That's just completely ridiculous.

Honestly, the Islanders shouldn't even be on a list. No one gave them any mention at all during the playoffs.

I pick up the free newspaper on the subway. There was quiet a lot of Giants/Jets talk during the first round still.

And I guess, it was more Pens stuff than Islanders stuff, but still, it was more than the Rangers series against the Caps

Were you picking up Newsday? There definitely was not more coverage of the Isles series than the Rangers-Caps in the Daily News or in the Post.

Do you live here?

1) Knicks
2) Yankees
3) Mets

4) Rangers

5) islanders

The Rangers barely existed until the Knicks were ousted.

Why let the media dictate your feelings about your team's worth? You enjoy your team and can find more than enough to read about them. Why should it matter that the Rangers weren't the back page of the Post every day? Do you really want to be the NY Jets? Honestly, I love how hockey doesn't become the sensationalistic circus every other sport becomes in this market.

Easy for a Devils fan to say.

But seriously, I always wonder how it would be if we only had one team per sport instead of two (or three for hockey).

My feelings about sports media actually come from being a Jets fan. I hate the NY Sports Media and the circus they created out of my beloved football team.

I personally love the dynamic of multiple teams in the market because talking sports at school/in the office etc. doesn't become one big circle jerk about the team everyone loves but instead an inspired and passionate debate between fans of different persuasions. Too many sports fans in monopolized markets wind up blind to their teams flaws and are all too homeristic as a result.

The Nets are not ahead of the Rangers let alone the Giants or Jets. Are you kidding me?

Really? The Rangers were that low? Last season it seemed the Rangers got a lot of attention. Why were they so low? Was it the Knicks being a contender (so called despite winning one more playoff game) or people feeling the Rangers really were not a true contender like last season?

Ok now you're just talking out of your ass. Do you know how many new Nets fans there are since they moved to Brooklyn? Everywhere you go you see someone sporting a Nets hat, t shirt, or what have you. How many people do you see walking around with Rangers gear on? Not many.
