Latendresse has two Mentors

I don't know if this has been posted already.

http://www.rds.ca/canadien/chroniques/214371.html

It seems that Latendresse has two mentors in Dandenault and Begin. I for one am more than extatic upon hearing this. Begin...the guy who hits everything and gives 100% all the time...is going to mentor Latendresse...a bigger more talented version of Begin? hmm...

Also didn't it worry anyone else when Mike Ribeiro was saying how he was going to try and help Latendresse along this year? Isn't that the LAST guy we'd want messing with Latendresse's mind? I'm sure Latendresse is aware of that if we look at what he said about Mike...nothing. I might be cynical but i think one of the reason's why they got rid of Mikey is because he was getting too close to the special duckling, and they didn't want him to taint him.

Anyways its just my thought ladies and gentlemen...right or wong.

Haha, I just thought of something. The kid is 19, and for all I know he lives at home.

I think it'd be awesome if on the day of a game, he's just eaten supper,

Gui: Mom, I'm going to play now.
His mom: Oh not yet, mister, not until you finish your peas!

Ribeiro has 1 thing he can teach Lats...How to ignore the media and just play your game. Sure mike didn't fullfil his expectations but I always thought he did a good job at keeping his emotions off of the ice, which is something Lats can learn. If Ribs had Lats frame, I think he'd still be here.

Good to see Lats getting some guidance, I hope he finds an English mentor along the way as well.

One of the problems with the old team were the language cliques. I just hope the team doesn't fall into similar patterns as recent ones; mind you Dandy and Begin are good role models regardless.

If he had Joe Sakic's wrist shot, he'd still be here. If he had Yvan Cournoyer's legs, he'd still be here. If he had ... But he DOESN'T

Why are you trying to make an argument over nothing? I was simply saying that there are things that Ribs can teach Lats. By saying that if RIBS had LATS frame, I was implying that LATS has LATS frame. Ribs has skills that he can teach Lats, and he also has the whole media jib..cuz Lats will probably be surrounded by media as much as Ribs was.

Maybe he can also tell Lats that if he wants to keep his job, he better make damned sure that he's noticeable out there each night...And to work on his skating and other weaknesses as best he can in the off-season...

There's more to learn from the bad that happens to you, than the good. Ribs is probably a ton wizer than he was when he started here.

I saw an interview with Lats about this and from what I understood, he said he was sad to see Mike go because Mike was mentoring him. In that case it's really good he's gone.

Apparently Gainey didn't want Ribs to teach Lats anything.

I think Lats is in good hands, and there are better role models on the Habs than Ribs.

I'm not saying otherwize...But there are things he could learn from someone who's been a darling to the media one day and trash the next.

During pre-season, after a practice, Lats went to Ribeiro's place and smoked weed while watching adult swim. Begin heard of it in the locker room and decided, since he hates Ribeiro's attitude and thinks he's a cancer to the team, to tatle-tell Bob Gainey, who became so enraged, so furious, so pissed, that he threw Ribeiro for the first warm body he could find.

Even if that isn't true, it's a good story. Short but salacious.

Ribeiro looks like a pot head, then again he also looks like a tranny. Oh well, Dallas' problem now. Kyle McLaren will see plenty of him in the west.

Ribs would have been a bad mentor because lets just say Ribeiro likes to get high.

Mike Ribeiro would have had Latendresse punching babies in no time.

He's gone, let's get past this apparent 'attitude' problem he always had. Some of you guys make him out to be the spawn of satan when here we are on an internet message board. Half of you are probably downloading dominatrix monkey porn and drinking absynthe right now...or whatever the young kids do these days.

Personally, I didn't like him on the ice with my team. I'm glad he's gone and that's about it.

good news, but as someone mentioned, woulda been nice if he had someone like Rivet who speaks English as one of his "chaperones" as well. Could probably help him learn the language better.
