I think that's appropriate. Congrats to all three.

Just as I poredicted BEFORE camp. Any one of the three would have been ok BUT Kimmo wast mopst deserving. Sully is 50-50 on being here next year, PK is still green to the team and the coaching staff. It was Walker's team and he was never captian. Now it's Sully's team (right now) and he's not captian. BIG FREEKING DEAL! You guys are just sore becasue the "HF Boards hockey gods" were incorrect for the most part! TOLD YOU SO!

uh, muddy, hate to rain on your parade but Sullivan signed a 4 year deal last year. So unless you know something we don't sully is 100% for next year.

they decided to show some loyalty and picked kimmo, which is not a bad choice. we all know that sully is the emotional leader on the team anyways. However, maybe it's wise to give the C to someone a little more calm and less hotheaded like kimmo.

Thats borderline racism. Some of the greatest playoff performers are European. Why don't you look up Forsberg, Peter .

I hate this myth, and it disgusts me to see so many people post it as if its an inevitable forgone conclusion that Europeans are trash in regards to North Americans. Judge a person based on his personality and body of work, not people only related to him based on the continent he was born on.

Well said. Make that post a "sticky" in the forum!

Congrats Timonen!

Someone has to be the first. That could be Kimmo.

Congrats to Kimmo.

Yeah, I bet euros are such a chokers. Nashville should sell all their euros, start with Zidlicky, Timonen&Vokoun. That will make Nashville much better team and they will own Stanley Cup. I hate those euro chokers like Kipper, Hasek, Lidström, or some oldies like Kurri&Tikkanen. Edmonton would have been much better without them. And these new jokes like Oveckin, hah! Useless bum and some Caps-fans wanted him to be captain, never! That should never happen, what a choker that guy is and no heart like all NA players have!

Any team without any single euro player would beat every NHL team. Stupid teams drafting some useless euros. What they can do, just watch last Olympics where Canada&USA owned euros bad.

Anybody else suprised to see this quote today:

Trotz, who called the decision one of his most important as a coach, knew there were other leaders on the team as well such as Jason Arnott, Tomas Vokoun, Scott Nichol and Chris Mason.

I'm not surprised to see Mason, but Nichol is a bit surprising. Still, if you listen to Nichol and watch how he plays the game, he is the definition of a team player. He will do anything for his teammates, and he truly is an intelligent hockey player (by that, I mean he knows what a team needs to do to win.) I have always been impressed by the way Nichol goes about his job, even if he is a fourth liner on all but a handful of teams.

Congrats to Timmo. I think it's a smart decision on many levels for the Preds. Timonen has been a Predator longer than the other two main considerations (Sullivan/Kariya) and with his upcoming free agency I think naming him the captain gives him yet another reason to stay in Nashville.
