The question now becomes does Florida want to pass on him.
Honestly, based on organizational depth, I think it would be more likely that Colorado would take Drouin than Florida. Florida has Huberdeau on the wing (probably not going to be C in the NHL) and while Bjustad is a good prospect, I wouldn't bet on him being a #1C, which Mac definitely will be. Mac is just a too perfect fit.
Jones would be a perfect fit for Colorado, as well, but they are rather short on skilled wingers, and Roy is familiar with both Mac and Drouin, so I think if anyone is going to **** up the order, it's them. Still, we're left with whatever the scraps of the top 3 are, and that ain't a bad situation to be in.
Per Tampa Bay Times Sunday....Russian right wing Valeri Nichushkin, the second best player available in the draft, according to the International Scouting Services, said he has talked to the team. "I know that Tampa Bay and Nashville want to choose me," he said. "I hope that one of the first five teams will pick me."
Hmmm...not sure I like the idea without a confirmation he'll be here next year but I guess all those top draft picks hear the same thing.
Y'know, with all these Florida and Colorado fans fawning over Mackinnon, I wouldn't be that surprised if Jones does fall to us. The top 3 can really go any way right now (assuming we don't **** up and go with Nichushkin).
